They are three piece and come apart pretty easily for paint. I plasticoted the background so I could change color easily. I found it better to pry them apart from the rim of the cap rather than crimp the tabs and push them through to seperate the pieces

My dealer installed black tri-spoke wheels will not come with black center caps. -Therefore, I have buy 4 gloss black center caps and give them to my dealership when they do the wheel install.
I have 2 questions; where did you get your center caps?. - And do you know their size (diameter) ?
Your caps look great on those wheels. - i would've never guessed they would, but they work. - Nice job.- I would love to see a photo showing entire car.

Why not save yourself the couple hundred $ the dealer is going to charge you for black center caps & do as OP did and paint them? Gloss black paint is $5.

I just got my C8 OEM Black Center caps from a parts supplier on EBay. I paid 129.00 for a set (4) and free shipping. They match the Black Trident 5 Spoke wheels perfectly. GM part #84691531. They also appear to be listed under GM part#84691532. I was unable to find them at the big GM Wholesale Warehouses online. I'm not as handy as the OP.

Yeah, I'll do that. - After all, its winter, err, I mean its customizing season here in Michigan. - So I have plenty of time to paint 4 little center caps.
I stumbled across this thread tonight and decided to give it a go with some 3M vinyl instead. Agree that there is no need to separate the caps into 3 pieces; just gently lift the trim ring and vector up and work your way around the perimeter gently. It is held in place in a series of slots around the sides and it slides out easily.
Once separated, I just cut some circles of the vinyl and stuck them over the cap center. I applied a little hairdryer heat to set it and that was it! Super easy and I am really happy with the results. The finish of the 3M product is an excellent match for OE Carbon Flash. Finished off the caps with ceramic coating for a total cost of maybe a couple of bucks. I bought a 5'x1' roll on Amazon for $15 and used maybe a 4" x 1' strip total for all 4 caps. OE Silver Cap
This 3M color is a very good match to OE Carbon Flash paint. It would work great for mirrors, or maybe the A-pillars and windshield top if you want to get the C7 bubble canopy look.
Be careful with those things. I had a flat repaired at my dealer and when I got home the flag logo part was missing from the cap. I can only assume plastic tabs were broken.

Yes they are all intact and none of them are broken. If gentle with them they will be fine. Take the cap off next time before the repair.
just popped it on the wheel, matches perfectly!
Used Oracal 651 black vinyl. Very easy to use and mold into the emblem base. 👍
I know this is an old thread but planning to change my grey center caps to black. Did the thickness of the vinyl not make it harder to snap the pieces back together or is it so thin that it doesn’t affect that at all?
one more - the hair dryer made the vinyl mold well into the indentation where the logo goes with no wrinkes? I’m thinking I’d like to try the vinyl instead of painting but I thought I’d ask before I do. Thanks

The vinyl does not affect the way that they snap back together. As far as laying the vinyl in the logo area it was not difficult. Just be sure to work it in with your fingers. Start at the bottom of the cap and work up smoothing it out side to side. Really no need for a heat gun or hair dryer. Make sure to clean the surface with alcohol to remove any wax etc. Cut the vinyl a bit bigger than the cap so you have room to work it into the logo area. Trim off the excess when finished and snap it back together.
