This afternoon I got a call from my dealership that my car had just arrived. My wife and I were there in 15 minutes to witness the unveiling. It's a beautiful car, but somehow the EFY option for body color accents was recognized on the main body, but not the doors. The car was made with the boomerang accent body color on the main body, but carbon flash metallic on the door portion. The dealer is checking with GM on how to resolve this issue while the service department performs the PDI. I can't believe it passed QC in Bowling Green when it's obvious the colors don't match. What's wrong with this picture?

It's a new option - enables the new owner to decide in person which they want in case they might change their minds
You have a very unique car - 1 of 1. Hopefully.
There is no excuse for this. I can understand some stuff getting by QC, but that is so obvious I almost believe it's some type of early April fool joke.
Should be an easy fix. Congrats on your new C8 - it's beautiful!
Unfortunate, but that door trim piece does have a white protective cover/film installed while on the BGA Production Line, so I can understand how the incorrect body color trim was not identified until that cover/film was removed during PDI. Does other side have same issue? Fortunately this is a relatively easy defect for the Dealer to repair and we hope that goes smoothly for the OP. -Rick

If you watched Kai Spande's video at the 26th anniversary celebration showing about how thorough their QC is, and then you see something like this, you know the video was just marketing.
As for "how it happened," the doors are pre-assembled off the main assembly line, and then the complete door assembly is attached to the car. So the guys assembling the door missed the EFY option code. But the guys attaching the doors to the car should, you think, flag this as an issue to be fixed before the car leaves the plant. And if not the line workers, the QC team.
