Just guessing, but the 2021 has some new dash graphics. A different tach display option in track mode, and a summary screen that shows how all the various Z-mode options are set. Maybe they're updating the 2020s with those features?
Has anyone else had their C8 graphics update done? I'm wondering how smooth it went.

If that is it, then I think the answer is no. During the MY21 preso that Harlan and Tadge did for NCM, the question was asked if the MY20's would get the new dash displays and the answer was no. Apparently there is a technology difference in the 2 that doesn't allow the 20's to render the new display options. They stated it is more than just a software update, there is actual hardware and/or sensors that must be present. Not sure if this is what the OP wanted to know or if it is something different.

That would be highly unusual, GM generally doesn’t upgrade anything that they don’t have to. They will with safety issues or to fix things that aren’t working properly. I haven’t known them to give free upgrades to features that are available on a new model. I think they had a mag ride upgrade for a fee in the past.

I recall seeing a video about this, but not sure if it was for 2021 or something else. It had a different UI for setting the various settings and mentioned a different tach, but don't recall seeing what the change to the tach was...
I can't find the video, but I remember seeing the part when they went to set up my mode or z mode. For each of the configurable categories (brake, exhaust, suspension, etc.) There was a red horizontal slider that you could adjust. It wasn't infinitely adjustable, rather it would just slide and stop at preset positions. For example if there were three settings before (track, sport, tour) the slider would only stop at 3 different positions. So it wasn't any new features, just a new GUI.
Maybe somebody else saw the video and knows where it came from.. I believe it was somebody from GM showing the interface in an embedded video clip, not some YouTuber.
Just to clarify, a video I'm referring to was not about the 2020 graphic update, but rather I think it was on the changes for 2021 cars.

I remember that as well. A GM presentation.
