Had my C8 for 2.5 months. Took it out today and, NOOOOOOOOO, it got rained on!!! What can I do, what can I do? Will it shrink? Is it damaged forever? Will the paint change color? Can it be saved?
I don't know what to do so I am turning to the indomitable CF to get sage advice.
Well, it is just a 2020. Since 2021's are starting down the line, you better head straight to the junkyard, and see what you can get out of it for scrap, seeing as how it's now obsolete, and no longer "king of the hill"......
Rain? Ha! I drove mine on I-95 from Ponte Vedra Beach to Vero Beach. No wax, no ceramic, no PPF....just the paint that BG put there on September 25th. I even killed a few bugs during the 360 mile round trip. And come to think of it, it rained briefly in Vero so it got wet.
My car is ruined at 1190 miles. I'll be putting it on the CF For Sale list next week for $45K to try to recoup some money on this totally destroyed car.

I'll pick the Corvette up and take it to my house. I'll monitor it over the next year to see if there is any permanent damage from the rain. That will include a performance test at Milan Dragway, Michigan and a 1 mile top speed run @ the Ohio Mile. I will waive my normal fee since you are a fellow forum member.

Consider the car sold then. PM me with the details. BTW, I'm holding you to this offer.

How did this get past quality control?? Oh, the Humanity is right!
I guess you'll have to start with a complaint at your dealer. Bring the car in as evidence of the defective build. I would assume they will provide you with a new upgraded (Z51, 3LT) loaner vehicle while they work with the factory to expedite a replacement with the proper rain-repellant halo installed. You should also receive a lifetime extended warranty on the replacement vehicle including all maintenance items (plugs, oil/filter, air filters) in addition to complimentary tires and fuel for the life of the vehicle before and after the 150k mile courtesy engine replacement. That will nearly make you whole, but won't compensate you for your time and the loss of consortium you will experience. For this, GM should offer you a free lifetime museum membership, including plant tours as well as quarterly round-trip airfare (you and up to 3 guests) from your home airport to Nashville with ground transfers and overnight accommodations, meals inclusive.
Neither the dealer nor GM will likely just offer these comps, but with some skillful negotiation, you should receive the above at a minimum!
All jokes aside--I agree with your implied point. I'm a drive it if you got it, who-cares sort of guy, but I also understand and am fine with those that want to keep their rides pristine. Whatever floats your boat...

Talk to you insurance agent. You should be able to get diminished value. Your car is now almost impossible to resell. Nobody wants a Corvette that was rained on !
