Moral of the story, dump the vette and buy an Outback...
Subaru's are crap. Bought mine new, engine blew at 59,200 miles, didn't warranty the engine. Countless visits to the dealer, small rust spots through paint discovered after delivery, never got a damned thing for free and the techs they hire are bottom rate. So, now I own 3 chevy's and a Subaru, and my 2 old Chevy's run great.

You have the freedom to throw it into the garbage, or better yet into recycling or ...... you can give it to a needy, poor, or sick child and make them happy.......

Certainly a YMMV situation. Wasn't really the point of my post anyway.

Funny seeing all these replies attacking the OP. After someone posted a picture of it, and explaining what it is, it makes sense to me.

Basically, the OP thought the model itself was a crude representation of the car BECAUSE the expectation is that a model should more accurately reflect the subject.

However, as explained by others, this is not really a "model". It is what was used to demonstrate the available colors, and not necessarily an accurate scale model. I don't think the OP was complaining of the free gift...only that it looked very crude IF it was supposed to be a model (which we now know it was not).

But, as usual, so many people went into attack dog mode. This is why I still visit this site...pure comedy gold.

As you were!

WOW What a stupid post! It is a FREE gift , a memento. If you don't like ir toss it. But to complain about it is unbelievably ridiculous. Entitled and bad attitude!

Model cars are for children, and you are certainly acting like one.

I wonder if it only comes with sold orders? If that is the case, then it is free. Any of you that bought off the lot at a dealer, did you get the model?

While I can see in his edited version, he tries to say he is grateful, it is clear he is not.

If he had approach it as a question, asking why the gift is a stylized solid, and not a scale model, then he may have just gotten the explanation of what it is, rather than getting a ration of crap. The tone of his post was just another privileged first world non-problem, and not even a actual problem with his car, which everyone could understand why he might complain.

I find the site is very helpful when you ask questions, and merciless when you appear to be complaining for no good purpose other than to cast the Corvette (and Corvette team) in a bad light.

OP, tt is too bad you don't like the gift.

The ones I have seen look awesome. Hopefully, GM will still be giving those to new owners when I buy my C8.

That's cool. I always wanted to have a model for each of the cars that I've owned. It's harder than it sounds, if anyone has a line on a 1996 Nissan Altima model, let me know...

It' just meant to be symbolic not a detailed reproduction. As a symbol it should not be detailed. When you think about it you have a symbol of being one of the privileged people able to purchase a first year C8. It's even got your VIN. You should be proud. It's not like your going to get down on the floor and play with it.

I have a 2021 pending an allocation at MacMulkin. If you don’t want it, I will be happy to take it off of your hands. I have no idea if 2021 buyers will get one of these. I will be glad to pay all shipping and handling costs. I will paint it Red Mist and figure out how to change the VIN. Let me know. Thanks
