Anyone notice on macmulkin website they are showing bunch of 2021s in transit. I’m going to take wild guess they are sold orders but I didn’t think they put sold orders on the website. What you think? Available or sold orders?
Surprised Bc I heard dealers doing this but I’ve never seen macmulkin put it on their website
I believe it is a GM thing. Once a car is produced and shipped to a dealer, that car automatically shows up on the dealers website and then gets removed once that dealer actually delivers that car to a customer. It is set up that way because most of the time the cars in transit are stock units and it usually takes many months before those will actually be sold to a customer. If a dealer had to manually enter every car coming into the dealership and then manually remove it after it was sold, it would take a lot of time that could be freed up by having the system work automatically.
Usually this system works OK, but in this case it doesn't. In this case it is up to the dealer to keep tabs on when the in transit Corvettes hit their website and then go in and manually remove them. Since most dealers only get one or two Corvettes a month, it is usually not that big of a deal, but I would imagine it is a little more time consuming when it comes to a dealer like Macmulkin who gets about 100 Corvettes a month.
