Default Save the Wave

To all new first time owners of Corvettes, please save the wave. It has been a thing for at least the last 30 years for Corvette owners to wave to other Corvette owners, regardless of generation. You know, generally to be friendly.

My wife was out in our new HTC and a White HTC was at a light and she pulled up next to it. She rolled down the window and said “Hi!” All friendly. He looked at her like she was a a two headed axe murderer (she is not), and gave a luckluster “hey” like it took all the effort in the world to say it to this weirdo.

You should be friendly to other Corvette owners. The Corvette camaraderie is an important part of Corvette ownership.

Please save the wave. I've been doing it since my first Corvette in 1970. A few do wave back, but not a lot.

First time corvette owner here and I must say it's pretty damn cool that nearly every corvette I've seen has waved no matter the generation.

I got my first Corvette in 1992 (a black 92 C4) and I knew nothing of the wave, but quickly learned that others would wave, so I started waving back. I currently have a 2008 Z06 (track car) and a 2009 3LZ Z06 (garage queen), and a C8 on order. C8 will be my 6th Corvette, and the third in my garage. I always wave, it's part of the DNA of these cars.

I understand the camaraderie but it is just common courtesy to wave back when someone waves to you.

Unless it's a neighbor, nobody ever waves at me.

I've been waiving since 71 in my 65. Still own it. Unfortunately, many of the newer (C4 through C8) owner's don't return the wave. Never let it ruin my drive though.

Couldn’t agree more! Gotta save the wave. It’s one of the reasons I prefer the corvette family over other brands I’ve had which shall remain nameless where there is not only zero camaraderie between fellow owners but seemingly disdain. My first was a 2018 c7 and I really like the brotherhood. I’ll be continuing the wave when my c8 arrives in a few weeks

I kinda gave up on the wave some years ago. Maybe just in my area, but rarely do people wave... In over 30 years of owning Corvette, amassing over 500,000 Corvette miles in those years, I've seen plenty. But few wave anymore...

Got a middle finger from a guy in a c7z a few months ago. Looked like a total tool though so... generally wave and generally get waves back. I forget a lot though because I don't drive it much. Early C4s kind of blend in with third gens when they're black so unless someone is really looking I get missed a lot. Got a nice 2 finger raise off the wheel from a C8 down in beachwood back in October. Seems a lot of guys do do it.

Hey I waved at a C8 I saw driving by while I was enjoying a bicycle ride today here in the SF East Bay Area, don’t think I got a wave back 😜 (true story by the way)

Oh well...

He probably traded a Porsche in for his C8...

I try to wave at every Vette. Sometimes I momentarily forget, and a couple times I’ve thrown the horns up through the open targa, and in my mirror, received a wave through the other open targa. Once I forgot the targa top was in, and attempted to wave through the top. Self correcting error.

The car garners a lot of attention, and a lot of pics/videos. If I know I’m about to be digitally preserved, I make some hideous facial expressions.

It's my first Corvette and I wave. All my neighbors wave to each other around the neighborhood and all the other boats I pass head on when I'm out on the intracoastal waterway in my boat also wave. It's a lot of waving but it's kind of refreshing especially after spending an hour or two on the internet... It's hard to believe how differently people behave face to face

Here the tradition of waving is kind of hit or miss - with a lot more misses than hits. I wave, but many others just either ignore the wave or perhaps do not see it. I’ll still continue the tradition, whether or not another driver waves.

I wave and most of the time it is returned here in S. Florida. Sometimes the other Vette owner even gets the draw on me and waves first. You guys ever catch someone waving at the last minute when you weren’t paying attention and feel bad that you left em’ hanging?

The wave is alive and well in Southern New Jersey. I think many new C8 owners are new to the Corvette and at many dealerships, it isn't even brought up during the sales or delivery process. I know when I got my first vette back in 1989 (C4 convertible), the dealer said nothing but it didn't take more than a few Vette drivers waving at me or flashing their lights to figure out what was going on. lol

I noticed this the first time I drove the C8 out of the sub. my neighbor who has a C7 waved, we waved back then saw an earlier model corvettes and they were all waving. On the way home, even a Harley Owner was waving at me! Had to research why people were waving until I realized the Corvette wave. makes ownership even cooler!
