Default Engine Cover

I recently picked up my C8 12/24/20 from our local dealership. I ordered the optional Edge-red engine cover to replace the stock cover. Here are my questions:

1.) Is it installed at the dealership?
2.) Is the original cover returned to the customer?

When I inquired about it, I was told that "they'll look into it"

Regards

Thank yuou for your reply Russ and I know it's easy to install.

I wondering if the dealership is attempting to "Pull a fast one" on me by keeping and reselling it.

Your are right...I didn't answer your question and I apologize.

They should not keep your original one because you paid for that and they delivered it installed. But some dealers may not agree. Suggest you make the dealer know that you want the original cover back. I bet they really don't care to keep the original one. Now I've talk with 1 owner that paid for the 2nd set of wheels and the dealer kept the stock silver one, which I believe is wrong. They lied and told him they sent them back. GM I am sure doesn't want wheels returned....shipping, damage, inventory control, credit RMA etc.

It is not an exchange price, I.E. the dealer keeps the original one from the car. The price for all the LPO options are higher than normal list to allow for the installation. If they kept your engine cover the LPO one should be half the price of just buying one outright.

  1. Yes, it is installed at the dealership
  2. Yes, the original cover should be returned to the customer. You paid for it. This is true of all LPO options that replace a standard item. The item that is replaced should be given to the customer.
