I got a solid (not blinking) check engine light this morning...called onstar and they came back with Module ECM - Engine System and a diagnostic code of P00FF. The recommended action is Service within 7 days...the earliest appointment i could get with my dealer is exactly 7 days from now. I booked it, but I am wondering if anyone knows if this is serious enough to warrant me trying to get something sooner. Thanks very much!
"The Engine and Transmission System is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the Air Induction System which monitors and controls air intake to the engine. If the check engine light is flashing, a misfire condition has been detected. A misfire increases vehicle emissions and could damage the emission control system on the vehicle. Please reduce vehicle speed, avoid hard accelerations, avoid steep uphill grades, and reduce any cargo loads such as a trailer."
P00FF is just an informational code. It means some other fault in the ECM, or another module entirely, asked the ECM to turn the light on. It'd be worth putting a generic OBD2 reader on it to see if there are other codes in the ECM. If the fault is somewhere else in the car, you won't be able to see it without specialized tools. The BCM looks like a likely candidate.
You may be force to wait for the dealer to find out specifics.

Thanks... I called my dealership and the service guy said it was likely a cold air intake sensor issue... Needs fixing but nothing catastrophic. I'll drive easy for the next week until I can bring it in.

My new Z06 threw the P00FF code after my second fill-up on my way home from Bowling Green. It went away after the 3rd fill-up. My dealership said to not bring it in until I get the code again.
The car is telling itself to turn on the check engine light. There is something else that is causing this. This code by itself is not really a defect code.
remember you can also call onstar and they can tell you if you have any other codes, you must be sitting in the car and call from the car using the OnStar system
Google AI says... "P00FF is an informational diagnostic trouble code (DTC) that indicates the Body Control Module (BCM) has requested the check engine light to turn on. It does not point to a specific engine fault but rather a communication issue or a fault in the body control system. To find the root cause, you must scan the body control module itself, not just the engine."
