I have been waiting a year and a half for my C8 and I should finally get it sometime in February. Since it is getting closer, I decided to do a mod/project while waiting. I purchased this stock engine cover from someone on this forum and then proceeded to paint it (including the logo). I think it came out pretty good. I strongly recommend anyone to do this easy job to pass your time while you wait:
Items purchased (https://www.automotivetouchup.com) Item No.: AER-AP - 12 Oz Aerosol Plastic Parts Adhesion Promoter Item No.: AER-PR-Grey - 12 oz Aerosol Sandable Acrylic Lacquer Primer - Grey Item No.: AER-BC - 12 oz Aerosol Spray Paint, 2020 Chevrolet Corvette: Torch Red 70
Item No.: AER-CC - Description: 12 oz Aerosol High Gloss Clear Coat
Process:
1. Cleaned the cover
2. Taped off the brushed aluminum plates (should have removed them with fishing line. It would have been a little easier).
3. Sprayed on a coat of adhesion promoter
4. Sprayed 2 coats of primer
5. Sprayed 4 coats of base (15 min between coats)
6. Used the acrylic paint pens to paint the logo. This required about 5 coats of white and yellow paint to make the paint solid. After the white and yellow was painted, I painted 2 coats of black around the logo
7. 7 coats of clear
Hope this helps give someone some motivation.
