Long answer:
To activate the camera mirror, you flip a lever similar to one that would change an old style mirror to it’s “dimmed” mode. You pull it towards you and it tilts the mirror up slightly and turns on the camera. When you put the top down, the camera turns off, but now the mirror is tilted up, so in order to use the regular mirror, you still need to reach up and push the lever away from you in order to flip the angle of the mirror down. Once you do so it is back to however you had it set before.
So after typing the paragraph above, it seems to me I’m doing it wrong (in my defense, I’ve only had the car 4 days). If you intend to use the camera mirror with the top up (which I do), then I think if you have the top up, with the mirror in camera mode, and then put the top down, the camera will turn off, now adjust the mirror to the position you want WITHOUT flipping the lever. That way when the top goes up, it will already be in camera mode and when the top goes down it will switch to “mirror” mode and already be properly adjusted. No switch intervention required.
There has also been some discussion about it being hard to focus on the mirror camera. I would agree, but it hasn’t really bothered me. I wear progressive lenses in my glasses. When I look at the mirror I just use the middle of the lenses, the picture is perfectly readable for traffic although not crystal clear. I would have to tilt my head way up to use the bottom of the lenses to get a perfectly clear picture. Some people have suggested turning the camera mirror so it is directly facing the driver more makes it easier to see. That's probably a good idea for the coupe but would require readjusting the mirror every time you put the top down on the HTC.
