Default C7 to C8

To those who sold or traded a C7 to buy your C8, any regrets? My C7 has been nothing short of amazing to drive and beautiful to look at. I want to buy a C8, in fact I have one on order, I am just wondering how others felt making the transition....

No regerts! But seriously, I can’t think of one thing about the C7 I miss with my C8. You’ll love your C8!

If you like the looks and prefer an auto then I don’t see how one could be disappointed. Performance wise it’s great for the base car.

Keep the C7 and buy a C8, best of both worlds. Thats what I'm doing.

I sold my C7 a year and a half ago in anticipation of getting my C8; it's been hard and I miss the C7, but it will make me appreciate the C8 that much more.

Sold my C7 M7 Z06 Vert in September for multiple reasons and I do miss it. The hot C7 resale market was part of it or I would have planned on keeping it. Though I can’t drive it from mid November through early March usually, I do miss having a Vette in the garage. Hopefully that will change by Summer.

I miss the four Z06 and Z07 C7s that I have owned since 2016 a whole lot.....Particularly the 2019 Z06.

Sadly: My C8 has spent more time in the shop than in my garage!!

I miss rowing and the power band of my c7z. In fact I’m pretty disappointed in the automatic. Have been looking at used Zs and other sports cars with a manual. It’s just a very bland experience stepping on the gas and guessing which gear it will shift to.

Now if I had an automatic prior generation vette, the c8 would be light years ahead of older models. Guess too many folks ordered automatics in the pass and killed the manual.

I still own my C7Z in a manual but i'm dying to get into a C8 already.

Growing up, i learned to appreciate refinement and overall usability. I guess i got spoiled by the cars i leased and cars i get to drive because of good friends.

Although i'm not getting a stingray and waiting for the C8Z, i was willing to leave my C7Z for a C8 stingray. The only thing i probably would have missed from the C7Z if i did that was the power from 100+. 0-100 and the C8 stingray would be faster than my C7Z anyway.

The DCT and ME is the game changer for corvette. Thank you GM!

While I didn't trade a C7 for the C8, I have owned the C7's, including a Shark Gray Z06 with the Z07 package. It was amazing !
But the C8 is just as amazing, but in different ways.
In my opinion, it is leaps and bounds better than the C7.
For reasons my own, I sold the C8 after about a month of ownership. But not due to anything with the car itself.

This is one of the reasons I may never own another Corvette. My 17Z M7 was my first. Just don’t know if I’ll be able to go auto. My only auto sports car only lasted a year😢

2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified

Sold my C7 in prep for the mid engine arrival. And in fact, I pulled the trigger due to the rumor mill a little too early and had to make due with a Camaro 2SS FIFTY for almost 2 years before I could actually order in late 2019, but now that I have my C8 I have absolutely no regrets.

Its a completely differently driving car. I loved my 2015 Stingray, and felt at the time it was a step up in terms of fit and finish over previous Corvettes, and it was.
But the C8 is on another level. I don't know if I'd call it a super car but as a GT it is far higher above the C7 than that one was over say even a C4 - in fit n finish, materials, interior design, and the ME profile. The presence of it is completely different in person. This car just cannot take a good picture, imo. Pictures... they really do not do it justice. You gotta be near one in person, or in one.

This is true in motion or stopped. I've filled up my tank maybe ~dozen times since I got it, and I have not **once** had a fill up where someone didn't step up and start talking. It draws people (yes that will wear off, and I'm looking forward to it wearing off). But the C8 just affects people in person.

You feel completely special in it. And I must say: the engine being behind you cannot be overstated - it is something you really can't appreciate from trawling forums and watching videos or going on a test drive, it is something that seeps into you with ownership and that intimacy of daily driving.
I only got my C8 in November and so, because of being in the midwest, I haven't even yet had the enjoyment of top-down warm spring/summer/autumn drives that I so loved in my C7. But, in the time I **have** had with it - to daily it to "work", to grocery get, to barn storm some back roads... and to fondle and caress in the garage when the wife is not lookin - it is just something I don't regret for one second.

The C7 was great. The best of the front engine long hood corvettes. I loved it. Truly. But the C8 is a completely different animal. I am obsessed with it. And I own it. Its down in my cold 40degrees garage and I wish I was down there waxing it or something.

Pull the trigger. You're worth it. Its worth it. You won't regret it.

The old love

The new love

C8 > C7. Sold my C7 just a couple weeks before I took delivery of my C8. No regrets. The C7 was great but the C8 is is greater! Both similarly equipped: Z51, MSRC, 3LT, sueded interior, carbon fiber dash, etc. C7 was a M7 and I can honestly say I don't miss rowing the gears. The DCT is fantastic.

My C7:

The future Corvette will be electric. Electric cars do not use manuel transmissions. Hence no manuel C8. The Electric Vette should be much, much faster ! .......YOU WILL SEE !!!

I’m aware. My sister has a Tesla. It’s quick but boring. I will never own an electric car. I’m still debating if I can enjoy an auto in a C8Z.

The C8 is a different car from the C7. I think my C7 Grand Sport was better looking and had a more balanced design. My C8 looks no where near as muscular and beefy as the C7 did. I’m not particularly 100% pleased with the DCT either. The C8 is a noticeably more refined car especially the interior. I thought the C7 interior was nice but the C8 is 100% better. It’s a Cadillac inside without a doubt. No Chevrolet in this interior. The C7 is a bold brash American where as the C8 is much more sophisticated. The bottom line is the C7 is still a Corvette the C8 is in a totally different type of car, it’s very nice but it’s very different from a traditional Corvette and the C8s styling is a bit odd to me.

I own both, base no option models. I personally like the C7 design as much as the new mid engine design...love the inferior 7 speed manual as well... Still the C8 is much more inviting and fun to daily drive.

C7 Z51 convertible to C8 Z51 convertible.

No regrets at all.

I miss my C7, great car that I owned since new back in 2013 but I love my C8. I miss having the cargo space of the C7 but other than that the C8 is better in every way, hopefully I will get my hands on a C7 Z06 or ZR1 while still having possession of my (a) C8.

I grow too attached to my Corvettes to trade because I like to personalize & customize them to my liking. I kept my 2004 A4 C5 vert when I added my 2019 Z06 coupe with M7 and Z07 package. I think both cars represent the best each respective generation offered.

The C8 design is growing on me and I plan to look closer and perhaps add to the stable when the C8 Z06 is released. Strongly considering the HTC model if offered for the best of both worlds.
