Anyone can guess, but you won't get a reliable answer to actually make a decision on. Way too many variables still at play, supply issues/shutdowns, pandemic/potential shutdowns, market volatility, green energy initiatives that might start... Dealers are still backed up on orders.

I expect 25 percent depreciation minimum once supply catches up with demand...than a year or two later 45 percent depreciation

Average Corvette depreciation in normal times is about 33% after 5 years.

Got my 09Z used 14 months later when the ZR1 came out. Sticker $79K, cost $56K. 29% below MSRP but that was later in the production cycle.

C7s are still in the $35k-$40k range. And it’s been 7 years.

Do people make these threads thinking someone really can see into the future and knows the answer? Serious question.

Go out to any other generation on the forum for some swag information. Look at the cars for sale that have sold. I’ve always been very pleased with the resale on my corvettes. C5s seem to have bottomed out and are rising. A m7 c7 is doing better then the autos.

I’d think the economy is a bigger driver too. Timing is a factor.

Keep it long enough and it doesn't matter. I have owned my current C5 for 20 years and finally decided to order a C8. This is also the most cost effective way to own a high end vehicle like this.

Do people actually buy new Chevrolets as investments? This is a productions car. Drive the **** out of it.

Well.... You're no help to answering it... But.. You sure do show you have no idea why you are on a forum... He asked for a "Consensus" I could go copy and paste the definition but wouldn't want to throw you off your game..... SO I think he will get his "Consensus" after a = few people state their opinion= most likely coming to the conclusion of a general agreement on the value of a 90K car in a few years.. Seriously..

90K's will be low 70's and possibly high 60's.... Base is 60K and to be honest...... This is not as hyped as the C7.. It was but it actually fell flat after a few were out and about. I really think the C8 arrived too late to the market.. Covid, Shut down, Massive election year....Right hating the left visa versa... Uncertain economy, riots.. blah blah blah..

I use CARMAX as a feeler. They have had about 25 C8's I captured. They are still selling in days with about 15-20K over sticker ... But go to Autotrader, cargurus and the likes 850 C8s on Cargurus some been on well over 180 days. It hit a price point too. People are not going to pay 30K over sticker.. Those fools already bought one... As soon as the market demand has been filled with GM mass production.. C8's will be on the decline price wise.

So in 1 year from now..... my OPINION.... Ordering your own car will be weeks not half years.. so there goes the "over" sticker sales. cars that are out there will be 10% at min below.. By year 2..... same as the C7 25-30%

My Guess
First year depreciation = $15K
Second Year = $7.5K

Since GM will produce as many as they can, I'd think typical deprecation will occur.
Lots of specific Vette data can be research including C5 Commemorative Edition, C6 Ron Fellows, C7 Carbon so man examples or low production modern vettes to compare to "run of the mill" vettes.

Have fun with math

You might want to amend your guess, there are some that have had their car for a year, pretty sure they can get a bit more than $15k less than they paid. I'll have my car one year the first week of July, I paid $63,280, I'll bet money I can sell it in July for more than $48k.

Buy it to drive it and enjoy it . If I was worried about depreciation I would leave my $$$ in stocks and bonds .After all you got to remember it is still a mass produced car. I am 70+ yrs. and is time to have fun before i'm in the rocker instead of G2 seats.

What are your thoughts on depreciation costs (%'s) if/when the base and option prices rise?
