Regarding the specific OP question (which is old thread, but got revived) about driving the car with the engine bay cover removed: That space above the engine bay cover, between the engine bay cover and the tonneau shares air with the cabin. Air flows between the cabin and that space. I have felt that flow of air with the tonneau in the service position, the cabin closed with engine and A/C on. Air exits at top where the Nacelles joint the top. So, if the engine bay cover is removed, you will be sharing air in the cabin with the engine bay..
