Is anyone aware if GM is thinking to add a manual override to raise/lower the top on the C8 for 2022?

I would not count on it. Considering all the gears, servos, gizmos, and the careful, computerized electro-mechanical dance that happens each time you raise or lower the top, I do not believe a manual override could be that easily engineered. IMHO.. .

Perhaps something like this, but sized to fit as a clip-in just below the frunk lid:

Even if GM were planning such a change, it's unlikely they would communicate it to anyone on this forum.

Default Really?

So I thought about this thread. I want the lug wrench to double as an engine jump start crank. Who needs a battery eh? Spin it to win it. Just like Henry Ford cranked his Model Ts.

If I recall, there are six distinct electric motors coordinating the raising and lowering.
If you wanted to do it manually you would need a crank on each motor, and access becomes impossible when the top becomes fully raised or lowered.

This raises a question. If a motor fails, how can the service repairman open the top, to access the mechanicals, to repair the motor?

They subcontract out to the Keebler Elves.
