Default Performance Data Recorder - SD Card Size

Hello, everyone. My car finally hit 3000 status, so I wanted to order an SD card for the Performance Data Recorder feature since I'd like to use it as a dash cam.

The user guide says at least 16GB and class 10, but I wanted to see what people saw in real life use. Should I purchase a 64GB card or greater to prevent footage from being overwritten too often? 16GB feels small and I'm not sure how much footage I would get.

Anything I should know about or keep in mind when buying an SD card for this purpose?

Thanks for your help!

I figured I'm spending almost 100K with sales tax on a 3LT HTC, why get cheap with other things the car requires.

$150 for a SanDisk Extreme Pro 512GB SDXC UHS-I/U3 V30 Memory Card, Speed Up to 170MB/s (SDSDXXY-512G-GN4IN) at newegg.

Then $75 for a Patriot Supersonic Rage Elite 512GB USB 3.1, Gen. 1 (USB 3.0) Flash Drive Model PEF512GSRE3USB to hold all your music

Radiator Grills - $300
Torque wrench - $100
Lug nut socket - $15
etc, etc, etc - another $400

Based on another recommendation on this forum I went with this and it has been great...mine is set to record whenever I drive.

I am using a 128 GB Sandisk. It works fine.

Thank you all for your help. I'll probably do a happy medium of 128GB class 10 card. Really appreciate all of your feedback here.

Doesn't much matter for the C8 because it will automagically overwrite old movies. The C7 would not do that so SD Card size was somewhat important.

Since the PDR can do 1080p video, I'd recommend setting it recording at its highest resolution, and then getting the UHS class 3 (U3) SD card, for a throughput of up to 170 MB/s speed for the smoothest recording, instead using U1 class card that limits at 100 MB/s. I used
this one this one
, 256GB U3 card, double the capacity of the 128GB card, for merely $66 bucks. Highly recommended.
