When supply for the C8 finally catches up to demand and dealers begin to have inventory my question from those that purchased say C7's in the past do the GM dealers provide as much a discount on ordered cars vs. those in inventory or for those dealers that won't even have inventory due to lower allocations are they willing to work out deals below MSRP on ordered vehicles? I likely will have a build that won't be on a dealer's lot even in the future so will probably need to order. tks
I factory ordered our '16 Stingray at a 12% off MSRP back in the day ( Nov 2015) ....... don't have any idea if things will go back to that type of scenario anytime soon.......

Historically, Kerbeck has offered similar discounts on ordered cars but occasionally would offer slightly better discounts for in-stock inventory vs an ordered car. Keep in mind that an incentive available at the time your car is ordered may not be available when the car arrives so in that case an in-stock car would deft have a better discount / offer available. We are probably talking a minimum of late 2022 or most likely the 2023 model year before we will see ample inventory on dealer lots so this is probably a moot point at this time.

If you are using legal terminology, it is not a "moot" point. It however, may not yet be "ripe".
12% discounts were pretty standard at the big forum dealers on custom-ordered C7s midway through the run. The deeper discounts on lot stock were generally on loaded 3LTs, as well as cars that had been sitting in stock for longer periods. The more options, the more a dealer has room to discount.
The smallest dealers are the least likely to discount. There is a very small dealer near me who was still trying to get MSRP (or very close to it) on a C7 in the showroom, when the larger dealers were discounting 10% - 12%. That car (a black Stingray) sat there for months... .
My neighbor just texted me an ad from a local Chevy store that has a 3LT car marked up $32,285 over MSRP. May be awhile before you see discounts from list. When I was selling Corvettes new during the launch of the C5, I didn't discount one a dime for the first three model years and that car doesn't hold a candle to the demand of the C8.
There were occasional deeper incentives on some in stock cars vs ordered (I have seen 25-30% off MSRP). Some dealer refer to incentives as "Red Tag Sales" where some Corvette's were marked down even deeper to move inventory. I saw a few smoking deals over the years but we are probably years away from anything like this happening. I would anticipate any type of markdown or discount off MSRP for another 12 months. Could be longer.

I hope you are right. My son turns 16 next year, I retire end of 2022 and he gets the keys to my current car. I will replace it with the C8 in 2022 at some point so hopefully a discount will be available.

When I purchased my 2019 from Kerbeck, I was told I would get no where near the discount if I wanted to order a car. So, I ended up with a 2lt, Elkhart Lake Blue Stingray.

Most likely the timing of your purchase fell into play. The discount between ordered cars and in-stock cars was at most a 2% difference. There was probably another unique reason why the discount wouldn't have been any where close such as the timing of the potential order and any deals offered at the time.

There were other dealers selling under MSRP at the C5 launch, information just wasn't as accessible then. Either way, C8 isn't discounting anytime soon.
I don’t know but I saw 7 on the road yesterday so they are definitely getting them out there.
Only approximately 25K C8s built to date. By the same point in time for C7 production, there had been approximately 50K built. That explains much of the very long wait.
What you see on the road in any given place is random. The NoCal Bay Area with generally mild winter weather would be a hot spot. I live in the DC Metro Area, which is also pretty affluent, and I've only seen 1 on the road since deliveries commenced in early 2020. I'm also 40 miles away from the #3 Corvette seller, Criswell.

I agree it may have been a timing thing. C7 sales got hotter after C8 intro, particularly manual transmission cars. From one of the top 3 dealers, I got 12% off a custom-ordered, new plant, 2018 built in the last week before 2019 MY changeover. However, that was well before the C8 reveal.
Your salesperson may have just been trying to move lot stock by dissuading you from ordering.
