While on the surface I agree with you 100%, I just have a little apprehension when I look at the total surface area the red arrow is pointing at and asking it to take 140 ft-lbs. of torque.
One thing to consider is the lugs on a C8, when properly tightened, are at 140 ft-lbs. and that's a noticeable amount over the old cars at 100. Point being, are the locking keys and nut up to the task of being tightened to 140 ft-lbs. before they strip out?
I've had my wheels off for my low dust pads install. Use McGard puzzle wheel locks. No issue with 140 ft-lbs.

I agree. I have broke these cheap lock keys (right where the red arrow is pointing) on vehicles where the wheels were torqued to 90 ft lbs. Happened on two different vehicles. Now I don't use those wheel locks. If you can find the locks with the fully splined nuts, they are the best for longevity, but they are easier for a thief to get the lock nuts off.

Yep had that happen with the Gorilla Locks I had on my Truck. NEVER on 6 Vettes and others with McGard. No issue with 140 ft-lbs when I installed low dust pads on my C8! Will not buy anything else- probably why GM sells those with their logo (at 4 times the price.)
