If I ordered a new C8 today, when do you think I would receive it? I have read many threads and they all vary, some by a lot. I know there are unforeseen delays: UAW strike, covid and no computer chips.
So if corvette production was running normally, best guess/ estimate, when would I expect to get it?
Ron
At the moment, I would say 9-12 months and that is from a large reputable dealer with sufficient allocation. People have gotten C8s more quickly from other dealers, but many will tell you here, that is a dice roll. Look up the "Top 10 Corvette dealers." and good luck
My C8 took 14 months from deposit to delivery. If you order now, there’s a strong possibility you’ll be looking at a 2022 model. The supply chain is somewhat unstable right now. The two week plant closure at the start of this month has backed up orders even further. I anticipate there will be more shutdowns due to parts shortage as we move through the model year. Just remember patience is virtuous. The car is indeed worth the wait.
Not enough info provided by the OP to even make a WAG.
100%.
OP, you need to know where you are on the dealers waiting list and how many allocations they have gotten so far for 2021 MY. They have been given 6 months worth of allocations so far (Nov, Dec, Jan). And then earlier this month they were told what to expect for Feb, Mar, Apr. Compare your place on the list to the remaining Mar and Apr allocations. Final MY 2021 order date is June 17. So, figure 2 more months (May, Jun) at the same level. If your dealer is not willing to provide this information, RUN!
If it gives you any insight I placed my order with a small dealer Nov. 2019 and I'm STILL at 1100!
1100 means nothing. Its a list at the dealer only. You need to find out about allocations, and how many a dealer has and might get. Do your homework here on the forum. all the info is posted.
i ordered in June 2020 and expect delivery in May/June 2021
What does order mean in this case so I can compare notes? I placed a deposit last June with no details of the car other than a place on the list for a 2021 Corvette. My Purchase Order was signed in early Feb 2021 and the dealer submitted the paperwork to GM on Feb 17th? Thx
Dealers don't submit paperwork to GM for an order. The order is entered into GM Order Workbench. When the order is first entered, it will be at status code 1100. When the dealer gets an allocation to assign to your order (you're next on any list they might have), the order goes to 2000. By the following Wednesday, the order will be at 3000. The DOSP (Dealer Order Submission Process) happens monthly for the C8. Chevy tells them how many allocations they have that month and the dealer assigns the allocations to their orders.
Some dealers don't enter the order into Order Workbench until they have an allocation to assign to it. Other dealers will enter an order when you give them your deposit. It makes no difference which way it is done in terms of how soon you will get you car. That is determined by how many allocations your dealer gets and how many are ahead of you on the list. There is one potential advantage to getting the order entered in Workbench as soon as possible because a SRE (retail sold) order at 1100 or beyond is price protected for the current model year should Chevy raise prices during the model year (they did that during the C7 run).
When a deposit is placed is not relevant when comparing one dealer to another because it's the allocations and wait list size that determine when your order will be assigned to an available allocation.
Found a small dealer with allocation, placed $1000:deposit in December 2020, original TPW 2/1, was produced on 2/24. Pays to call around! Oh, one last thing . . . Paid msrp plus $150 dealer fee!
