The sound system on my 2020 C8 quit working yesterday. Initially thought I had hit the mute button but nothing restores the stereo sound. While trouble shooting, I noticed I no longer get any sound for turn signal lights, back up proximity warnings, phone calls or gps guidance. Tried disconnecting the cell phone and tried shutting everything off but no improvement.
I cannot think of having done anything to trigger this, i.e. turning up the volume too loud or ??
Anyone have some idea what is going on? Had a Facebook suggestion it was the "power amp" but not sure what that is or where to find it.
I have a total of 1500 miles on the car.

I had the same problem; no radio, no directional sound, no audio whatsoever. The audio amp fried. Dealer ordered a new one and it arrived in two days. Been fine ever since. Here is what was written on my receipt: “Scanned vehicle for codes, found U0186, B1A23, U3002, U0209, B129D and U1009 in modules throughout vehicle. Contacted TAC, was told to check power and ground going to vehicle’s amplifier (located under passenger’s footwell area). Confirmed good power and ground leading to amplifier. Recommend replacing audio amplifier to correct issue. Remove/replace amplifier per Document ID 5389145. Reinstalled all removed parts and programmed new amplifier.”

I've had the same or similar thing happen a couple of times in my other GM car. Both times the functions returned to normal after the car was left off for several hours. Not necessarily your issue, but you may want to wait several hours and see before rushing to the dealer.
Good luck, and be sure to post what happens so others here can reference your experience and resolution.
As noted, it can be anything from a one-time or infrequent glitch to faulty hardware. Print a copy of the notice about to take to the dealer with you... and, I hope you have access to a competent one, all too many of us don't. Good luck!
I'd try that before a trip to the dealer. It forces all the microprocessors to reboot. You'll have to re-index the windows after you reconnect the battery.
Mine is at the dealer right now with the same issue: all audio is dead (radio, turn-signals, phone audio, etc.). A few weeks ago, it happened, and an extended key-off period seemed to fix it. I'm dubious that the amplifier is actually bad - I think it's something related to communication between the head-unit and the amp. However, the dealer is replacing the amp tomorrow.
Note that this has absolutely nothing to do with OTA updates, which can sometimes trip-up the audio system. As a late 11/2020 build, the car has no update history, and no OTA's have been requested/applied.
My Radio when into a screeching booming extremely loud episode. Happened once then again in 4 weeks. Dealership found the rung on pass side was wet from aircon condensation dripping onto the amp. Ordered new amp and have not heard where the aircon leakage is coming from yet.. Will go in tomorrow and get an update.. They pulled pass seat and rug for drying out..
I've asked the dealer to address the TSB associated with the condensate drain, and let me know if it was indeed not fully installed. If it was not, then it would be safe to say that water was the culprit for destroying the amp. Warp10 - how many miles are on your car? I would guess that this secondary damage (the amp) is going to take a little while to show up. My car has about 3500 miles.
