To make matters worse, the dealer will not call me back to schedule a time to bring in the car. They have basically ignored me for two days so I will not be using them any longer. I am going to another dealer where I trust the service manager (much further away) and scheduled a time to sit with the tech and go over this issue next week. I will update this thread with how that goes. Does anyone here know if there is a way to report this directly to the engineering team at BG?

Sorry to take so long to reply, I've been unavailable. As I think I stated initially, after getting the car back with the problems, I took it out for a few days, doing mainly stop and go driving, to see if the Computer would relearn "how to operate properly". It sat in the garage for a few days before I finally got around to getting it back to the dealer. The morning I took it back to the dealer, initially upon backing out of the garage and leaving the area, it was still driving very poorly. By the time I got to the dealer and tried to reproduce the problems for the service writer, it had finally self corrected the problems and has driven fine ever since.

I have put about 100 miles on mine since the update. I am going to drive a good bit before I take it in next week. I sure hope it relearns soon.

I spoke to another C8 owner at a cars and coffee event near me on Saturday. When I explained to her how the car was driving after the software update, she said that hers has driven like that from the day she got it. So the big question is how many people are suffering from this issue and don't even know it?

I spent time with a C8 tech yesterday. We made a small road trip to discuss the software update and the impact to slow driving as well as the rear end whine. He confirmed that the car should not be lunging at slow speeds. It is getting better the more I drive. It is still very noticeable especially on an incline. He took down my software information and we even took some PDR footage on a spare card. He is going to work through the proper channels to see if there is anything he can do to help and let people upstream know how the car reacted to the update. Rolling back to a previous version is not an option. So, if you install it there is no turning back. Having a dealership that actually cares about helping the customer makes all the difference in the world.

Thanks for the update and please let us know what your dealer finds out from GM. As I mentioned earlier, I did not install that latest update, and after canceling the reminder message a couple of times, it's not showing up again on the screen. Maybe GM canceled it, but who knows, and it doesn't matter now since we no longer can install it.

To your comment about the jerking being noticeable on an incline, I did also noticed the jerking a couple of times when going uphill at a very slow speed, but certainly not on any leveled ground and streets with slow speeds, and having no issue in parking as well. So there was something wrong with what that update did, and getting a confirmation from GM would be nice.

Thanks!

Traffic was stopped on the south causeway here in New Smyrna Beach, FL yesterday because of a serious accident. I got stopped on the incline of the causeway. Every time I inched forward there was a slight delay and a pretty hard engagement into first gear. It all stopped when the car reached level ground. It got me thinking that maybe what I was experiencing was hill assist. Sort of makes sense.

I just checked my software version and it’s the same as yours yet I’m not experiencing any drivability issues. Drives silky smooth.

Trans update at dealer, was the tread I posted this issue under.

I had the same issue took in for an oil change and to get Campain # N202316880 done. After it was bumping and terrible. I took it back, shop foreman did the update and said the teck messed up the computer install. Car seems fine after and the bump at low speed is gone. Car is in for brake recall and they didn't ship a required seal, hopefully back Friday. He told me the teck screwed up the install and didn't wait for a green check mark or second page acknowledgment.?

Everyone with this issue should consider printing a copy of the above post and then try and get a competent dealer to attempt a re-do.

I would also suggest that perhaps this should be a “Sticky Thread.” ???

It would be valuable for C8 owners to know which updates might actually be causing these issues and which update eliminates the problems. Hopefully, it is as simple as giving the car time to “learn/adapt” as they sometimes do.

My car is still driving just fine after the initial problem and then putting some miles on it. It does shift differently now, more aggressive, when driving aggressively. I do like it better now. Other than the short time issue after the update, I absolutely love this transmission, I think it's very close to or as good as a PDK.👍🏻🥰

It's great you got your car fixed and problem is gone. Wonder if you or your dealer can confirm the update version number that made the difference (or fixed the problem).

Also, what about if you drive slowly uphill or on an inclined road, do you get any jerking or lunging at all, as some people mentioned that happened to their cars? (mine occasionally lunging on inline but nothing bad)

As I mentioned in post #22, the problem had resolved itself by the time I took the car back to the dealer.

My problem was mainly on coming to a stop and lunging on releasing the brake pressure from a stop.

I just went through the full update, it took about 20 minutes. I then took it for a test drive and I did not experience any issues as described in other posts..

Can you post a pic of the software build? I have the same as shown above (March 24, 2020) with no update history. My car drives fine (2200 miles on it) but I wonder why it is showing no updates. I know it did at least the key fob update. Mine is a Nov 5th, 2020 build.

Anybody have any ideas why no updates? Thanks in advance. Ed

Can we control whether to do the update or not? I thought they were done automatically?

You can decline the update. There are options in the Settings menu on how updates are handled.

I'm very sorry for the situation you got into, but don't rush to be sad. Your situation proves once again that you should only serve your car at the original centers. However, everything is solvable. Even if your software has been updated, that doesn't mean you can't go back to the old one if you're not satisfied. All copies are saved in the PC data.

Welcome to the forum @Gailbarh Just in case, how do you access the prior software updates, in the car, at the service center?
