Most provinces in Canada have a stunting law that results in $2500 fine and six demerit points on your license for going 50 kph or more over the posted speed limit. So if this guy was going 99 kph, he would have got a speeding ticket. At 100 kph, he gets a stunting ticket, $2500 fine and six demerit points on his license. Sucks to be going 50 kph over when 49 kph is almost as fast. Doing a burn out is also classified as stunting with the same penalties.

So.... 100 kph .. ~62 mph.. equivalent to doing 60mph in a 30 mph zone... ..Something I could easily do in the Sprite....
One need not own a fast car to get a ticket for going too fast. ..
Indeed you do... Consider this: In Virginia reckless driving is a class one misdemeanor. That means up to 12 months in jail. Any driving speed 20 miles over the limit or any driving over 80 mph is reckless driving.. So going 10 over on I81 can get you in the slammer.
At first I thought you guys were kidding. In SoCal, on most freeways, especially at night, 20 over is almost the norm for SUVs and minivans. I believe exhibition of speed can result from 100+ and serious burnouts, among a few other things I’m sure. If 20 over meant jail time, there would be no room in jails for murderers and drug dealers.
The largest penalties are with street racing. Some municipalities will actually crush your car if you are caught street racing, especially if it resulted in bodily injury. Imagine the horror of your C8 being sent to the crusher after waiting a year for it.

I lived in NOVA for 8 years. They definitely do not enforce the speed limit in that area of the state. At least not on the freeway.
