Default Problem

I decided to take my 2020 for a ride after three months in a heated garage in PA. The car was on a battery tender. After starting the car the check engine light came on with a message that the ESC needed service and to take the car to the dealer. I drove the car three miles with an rough engine and no shifts after third gear. I then stopped the car and restarted. The check light went out and the ESC light also turned off. The car dove perfectly for 100 miles.
Any suggestions? Will this happen each time the car comes out of storage. The car has 1200 miles total.

there have been other complaints of this setting then vanishing codes. My car did this also the first day I picked it up. It was a powertrain code and it said to get the car in within one day or else. The next day on my way to the dealer it just went off and never reappeared since. The dealer wrote a ticket on it and sent me on my way telling me they could find nothing wrong.

If it were me, I would wait and see. If the light does not return, I would not want to waste my time taking it in to the dealer just to have them tell me there are no codes and no problem found at this time. If the light comes back on and stays on, then I would set up an appointment to bring it in for diagnosis.

As with most "computers" (on wheels or not) from time-to-time, they need "reset." As long as your battery is still strong, you're good-2-go. ENJOY!

(also, beware that minimal voltage drops in the active FOB can lead to goofiness in the dash display, as well... who woulda thought )

There is the possibility of the issue being fuel related. Pull the codes (if any) and see if there was a misfire.
