Default Navigation SD Card

Okay, so I understand there must be an SD card inserted in a slot in the car in order for the onboard navigation to work. I guess this SD card contains the current maps? If it does, I also guess it comes with the car? Sorry if these sound like stupid questions, but I have never owned a car that had to have some sort of external drive to be plugged in in order for the GPS to function.

SD card (navigation maps) if I remember correctly (don't want to have my own false assumption), is not included in the base C8. It's part of the 2LT&3Lt upgrade. Some manufacturers may use internal chips for storage, apparently GM chose to put it on an SD card. Regardless, it needs to be stored somewhere.

Bigger factor, even though I have the SD Card and GM navigation, I don't use it. I use my phone and Android auto with a wire.

Not yet. In fact I am still at 1100 status with MacMulkin. I am hoping for a June build...

Here's a dumb (maybe) question; Is the nav SD card different (separate) from the PDR SD card or is everything on the same one?

2 different cards in 2 different locations. Fyi, Many of your questions can be answered by looking at the Owner's manual in the stickies up top.

PDR card is in dashboard glove box. Navigation card is at the back of the console glove box.

Actually I did refer to the owners manual first and must have missed it while going cross eyed trying to interpret it. Thanks for straightening me out guys.

My biggest beef with the manual is the relative poor index. It is hard to find the applicable section sometimes.

Not only does it come with the car, it is keyed to the car. Cannot be swapped.

My beef is that its almost as long as a Tolstoy novel and by the time I get to the end of a section I've forgotten what/why I started the section in the first place.

I rarely use the paper manual. I bring up the PDF and search for keywords. But you do need to know what keyword you're looking for.

I use both, but the obvious may occassionally be obtuse.

If you order a 2LT or 3LT which comes with built-in Navigation and PDR or you order option IOT on a 1LT, the Navigation SD Card comes with the vehicle. The PDR SD card does not come with the vehicle. However, if you do NCM delivery, they will provide a SD card for the PDR as part of your delivery.
