Default Current order wait time and pricing.

Hello guys,

Can someone please post a quick synopsis of the current C8 market?
I know 2021 order banks are closed.

Are 2022 order allocations still available?
What is the estimated time to delivery if an order is placed now? (6 months, 12 months, forever?)
What kind of pricing can I expect on 2022 order?

Thanks for any and all information. Much appreciated.

2021 order banks are closed ONLY for new retail sold (SRE) orders. Dealers will continue to get allocations that they can assign to existing SRE orders. They can also enter orders for dealer stock (which they could do for a customer). MacMulkin is probably about a 6-7 month wait at this time. Others have a longer wait and you may be able to find a dealer with a very short wait (but these are few and far between). There are cars available immediately with $10K-$20K ADMs. 2022 pricing is unknown at this time. There won't be any 2022 allocations given to dealers for another 3-4 months. All you can do for a 2022 is get on a dealer's wait list.

Thank you very much for this informative reply. If I am willing to order and wait 6+ months for a vehicle, is it fair to say that pricing would be at MSRP?

Thx again.

Yes, many dealers only charge MSRP. That likely will not change. There is speculation of a 2022 price increase, but it’s not confirmed and likely won’t be for another month or two. We also have no idea if production will be halted again for parts issues, etc. But assuming there are no more production issues you are likely looking at getting a 2022 model year car either carry late this year or early next year. But, again, that’s assuming no major production delays.

One thing. If the 2022 model year car has anything higher than a $3K or so price increase you could see lots of people dropping off the list and move up sooner. Time will tell.

You're welcome.

MacMulkin and the other large forum supporting dealers (Kerbeck, Criswell, Les Stanford and others (see "Vendor Directory" under "Marketplace" in the menu. Then select "Car Dealer" in the "Show Vendors by Category" box to get a list) all sell at MSRP and have very good reputations. Beware of local dealers who may wait lists that exceed 2 years worth of their allocations or surprise you with an ADM when the car arrives (even though you were told MSRP). It has happened to many, many potential owners. My personal recommendation is MacMulkin. They have zero dealer fees and are fantastic to work with.

With the long waiting lists, I don't see any discounts in the foreseeable future.

I did exactly what @Zymurgy describes while making a decision on where to send my initial deposit. After a few days reading the information here I sent my money to MacMulkin and Kerbeck. I think I will get a 2022 in the fall of this year.

Don't overlook that inflation is now over 2%. Still there is close to $350 billion of stimulus money approved by Trump to hit the economy. Plus there is now $1.83 trillion of Biden money with maybe several more trillion to come. Economics 101 tells us that that huge amount of money chasing the same or similar volume of goods will cause inflation. So today's 2%+ will likely be 5%+ before you can pay for a 2022 C8.

Bottom line is given the high demand and inflation expect to pay quite a bit more next year.

The Fed will likely take the necessary steps to adjust for inflation increases. You would also see demand for C8 fall off a cliff with high inflation as the cost for all essentials goes up (gas, real estate, food, clothing, utilities, etc).

The high demand for the C8 is also due to the lack of production. Way fewer C8’s built the first 18 months vs C6 and C7. That will improve as Covid is behind us and the supply chain wramps up.

I see you are in Georgia....did you consider Rick Hendrick in Duluth? That's where I went...car built, awaiting shipment and delivery. Placed deposit in early November.

After I posted what you quoted I had several members of this forum ask me the same question in other threads, so about two weeks ago I drove there and met with Chris. Great guy - my wife and I spent about two hours with him. The reason we were there that long is that they had just taken delivery of a Torch Red HTC that morning for one of their customers and he wanted to let us see it. We sat in it while he explained all the features, showed us how the HTC worked, and I got to start it and listen to the performance exhaust. I knew by that time I was #2262 on Kerbeck's wait list and #660 on MacMulkin's wait list. I asked Chris if I put down the refundable deposit with him that day how long would it be before I got a car. His answer? Six months! We did a preliminary build of my car online, he took my deposit, and I'm now on their wait list.

May the fastest dealer win!
