Chrome Wheels
The chrome trident wheels on my C8 came from West Coast Corvette. They are my 4th set I have gotten from them over the last 20 years. My first core swap with them was on a torch red '98 coupe. Then later, I did a core swap for my wife's Mercedes E350, and then in '16 I did another core swap for my wife's BMW 535i. They were all excellent, true factory wheels with absolutely no issues. When I tried to do a core swap with them for the C8, I ran into a bit of a snag. I had ordered my C8 with the standard alloy 5 spoke because I knew I was going with chrome, however, West Coast would not do a core swap because the tridents were in hight demand and no one wanted the 5 spoke alloys chromed. As a result, I had to purchase them straight out from West Coast at a cost of $3295, but I had a true Corvette factory wheel chromed. They are absolutely perfect in every way, and mine does have the CORVETTE stamp on each wheel by the rim, and the GM stamp on the back. They are factory in all aspects.
Before anyone questions getting Mercedes and BMW chrome wheels from West Coast Corvette, allow me to expand on that a little. West Coast actually hooked me up with another Chrome wheel vendor in California for those wheels. I don't remember their name. I used to have a great contact at West Coast back in the day when they used to bring an 18 wheeler to the NCM for the Birthday bash every year. I'm sure some of you remember those days when the back lot was full of vendors.

The way I look at it, anyone else’s choices, shouldn’t impact the enjoyment I get from mine. I’m a firm believer, if they make you smile, then go for it!

Easy to see why GM doesn't offer them. Over my life I've seen wheel color trends come and go. I let my car's design & color determine it's wheel's color/finish.
I ordered standard wheels when I placed my order for it, as I was planning on having to sets of wheels and tires on hand, but I almost ordered it with Sterling Sliver Tridents,
,
I had no idea what "Look" I wanted for my Artic White C8's Daily Driver look, but Black Wheels were out of the question, as for me at least, the wheels had to standout, to add some POP to it's looks.
My choice of White, was due to Two things, "Heat" and "Humidity" 1st off, 2nd was color that appeal, to the 'Ladies".... The number of women that drive White SUVs & Cars with bright sliver wheels where I live makes, it an easy choice....LOL
It seemed to me most Wheel Companies offer sort of Wild to Wilder designs that are similar to one another.. All were to far to the "Left" for me.
Then i saw the wheels below, that at time I ordered them, only 3 sets had been sold. By the time I went to order them, the company that made them had "Pulled" then from their website...LOL LAMotorsports told me they could be special order, might take up to 8 weeks to get them. Went ahead and ordered them. One thigh they had in their design's favor was they 'Looked" like GM's Trident wheels except the Centers where "Concaved, thus moving the tire outboard Vs Gm's design, and they were Chrome. .
Bottom line, Black wheels, are going out of style, people are moving to other "Colored Wheels" to make their car standout".
Me, I just went with wheels that lost their Luster back when Chroming was Banded because of it's effect on environment. Thought I would get in on the re-beginning of an age old trend, CHROME.....one I grew up with....

Bottom Line, there is no wrong choice for you, only for others.....

The downside of chrome rims is their susceptibility to corrosion and the difficulty in repairing curb rash. Painted rims are relatively easy to repair. I'm going to stick with painted rims on my C8.
