Just picked up my new C8 today. I only need glasses for reading and don't use them for driving. I noticed that I can see clearly with the rear view mirror but when switch to the camera it is blurry unless I put on reading glasses. I guess if you have progressive lenses or bifocals you would have to look very high to have the camera image in view. Anyone else have this problem?
With the camera, your looking at a screen, that is close to your face, like you're on a computer. When it's in normal mirror mode your focus is in the distance of the object away. That's why it's two different focal lengths and can screw with your near or far sightedness.
Try moving the mirror at different angles and also play with the brightness. You will find a perfect angle. You might need to turn your head slightly. I really like the camera mirror...after I made these adjustments.
I also pick mine up this evening and noticed similar effects... if I try to just take a quick glance at the mirror my.eyes don’t have enough time to re-focus. Will play with the settings and angles this weekend...
Yea, I use reading glasses and the camera mirror isn't as clear as the glass mirror for me. But I don't have a problem making out objects.
I set the glass mirror for the view I want and then flip it to the camera mirror position. That way I can momentarily flip it to the glass mirror position if I want to see a particular object clearer.
I solved any problem with that by putting the top down. lol
Ok, what I found was that I had to move the mirror so it would pick up weird reflections from the rear window You have to remember that it's a mirror AND a monitor. So when the top is up, I angle the monitor towards me to to reduce reflections. When the top is down, I have to re-adjust the mirror to actually see anything. Give it a try...
I wear 1.50 reading glasses for reading but they're not needed when using my camera mirror. It's clear and sharp without them. Like mentioned above, it all depends on one's focal distances and degree/type of your vision impairment.
I wear a pair of sunglasses with a reader patch on them. The normal view for the camera screen is slightly out of focus. I tilt my head and view through the reader patch and the view is perfect.
I’ve been wearing progressive grind glasses for over 20 years. Adjusted the mirror/monitor angle and have zero difficulty in seeing a crisp, clear image. Prior to setting proper angle it required a slight tilt of the head to see it clearly.

Unfortunately the mirror position requires a trifocal Rx for perfect clarity, but once accustomed to it, you will learn how to refocus your vision using one of the 2 portions of you glasses to work for you such that the image becomes clear enough (workable) in sub second timeframe. But it takes practice just like developing a scan when flying. Sorry for the pilot reference that many hate when it is so applicable.
