The kids and I just went through the process of removing, painting, and reinstalling the engine cover on our C8. Posting a link here in case any of you are thinking of doing the same. Hope you find it helpful. If you have any questions about the process let me know.
Just a tip on spray paint - it's good to start your spray slightly to the side of whatever you're painting and then do a continuous, stead drag across it past the end and then finally stop the spray once you're clear of the item.
Often if the nozzle gets slightly clogged or anything, then the initial spray can sometimes be more of a splatter which puts it on too heavy and can leave an uneven coat. This becomes a problem if you start your spray over the item you're painting.
Though for an engine cover it's probably not as important. But just something I've always done finishing model rockets to get as nice of a paint finish as possible.
Tip on spray paint:: put spray can in hot water for 5 minutes (and dry) before you shake the can. This increases the pressure inside, decreases the viscosity of the paint, delivers the paint more evenly, and dries a bit faster.
Great idea and great job! I have a Torch Red 21 on the way for July delivery. I will be doing this!
Thanks, and good luck on the wait and the painting when you get it. You can also pick a cover up on Ebay for like $100 and do it while you wait. Then sell yours when it comes.

Thanks a lot! It was a fun project for us to do together. Very gratifying. Transforms the engine bay drastically! Can’t believe I waited 4 months to do it. Plz like the vid and subscribe to our channel. Everyone counts. We’re working on a powder coating rims video now that will be out shortly.
Here’a a pic of the primer, paint, and clear coat I used for the body

Rob one question, is the red paint high temp engine paint? I've watched other videos where they all pointed out to use the high temp engine paint.

Thanks.
It doesn't state that it's high temp. the gloss is. There's foam on the underside of the cover. It's not getting hot enough to affect that. Can't see it affecting the cured paint underneath several coats of high temp gloss. However, Im not a paint expert. just my .02. Everyone should do their own research and feel comfortable with what they're using. With that being said if duplicolor had a can of high heat resistant paint there I prob would have gotten it. If it was for part of the block, heads, valve covers, etc, its a different story I would definitely opt for the high temp options. The high heat paints that I found weren't good matches for torch red at all. If things get hot enough that a regular acrylic laquer paint on an engine periphery is affected in the engine compartment then I think there would be bigger problems. Its going to be in the 80's the next couple days here in CT and I plan on adding lots of miles on the C8. I'll report if i see any issues in the higher temps
