Has anybody had any problems using a Micro Card with adapter as opposed to a full size SD card?
I have that setup in there now and while I haven't been out to do any recording the SD information screen doesn't show anything wrong and shows 1000 minutes of recording time at HD (1TB card. As I said I haven't tried any recording and am still trying to find the screen to allow overwrite).
^^^^ I've been using the San Disk 256G Extreme Pro as shown above since Sept without any issues. To assure I got a "real" disc and no possibility of a counterfeit one, I bought mine directly from San Disk for a few bucks less than Amazon's price.
Rick Conti has stated, without any clarification, on his Corvette blog, that you should not use a SD card larger than 32G .... I wonder why?
OK, so I tested a 1TB card and while the PDR says everything is alright my laptop isn't seeing it. I formatted it on Win 10 as exFAT (on windows) with no issue but it can't see it on my laptop. I'll have to try playback in the car.
So here's the deal. I tried a 1TB micro SD in an adapter. I formatted it on Win 10 for exFAT with no issues. Plugged it in the car and it records fine and can play back in the car with no issues. It won't play back on Windows as win 10 won't recognize it (don't know why). The original 16GB SD that came with the car will play on Win 10, using Cosworth, with no issues. Haven't figured this out yet but maybe this is part of the confusion.

Now this is intersting... ... I've purchased a 512 GB card to be used when the car comes.... Does the computer recognize the card and and files without using Cosworth? Is it a Cosworth limitation then? .. Hmmm

OK, good question. I've been doing some more experimenting with this and since I'm not a computer expert please bear with me. It looks like once the 1TB SD is formatted in exFAT the computer (laptop) won't see it. At first I thought it was because there was nothing on it. The 16GB card originally in the car acted the same way until I actually recorded something on it. After that it worked fine. The 1TB card, while it works and plays back in the car, goes into an endless "scan" (for lack of a better term within my understanding) no matter what I'm trying to put on it. I'm now thinking that's because the 1TB card has twice the memory as the 500GB hard drive on my computer. Someone out there with an enormous PC hard drive (OK, no puns here) may be able to verify this.
From what I can determine, exFat has a file size limit... there's some tech mumbo jumbo, .. file sizes larger than 4Gb cannot be stored on a FAT32 volume..
IF..... BIG IF .. what I am reading with my limited comprehension is correct, .. the largest run time that you could edit on a Windows system is just under an hour of HD vid...
Perhaps that is why the recommendation of a 32 Gb card?... Hmmm...

From an article comparing exFAT to FAT32:The biggest drawback of FAT32 is that it only supports files up to 4GB in size. If you have files that are larger than this, FAT32 isn't a good choice. Additionally, FAT32 only works on partitions that are 8TB or under. This isn't a major problem right now unless you have high-capacity drives, but will become more limiting as time goes on.
In contrast, exFAT has no practical limitations on file sizes or partition sizes. Its maximum file size is far beyond anything you would encounter in today's world. This makes exFAT the best choice for any portable drives that store large files and connects to different computers.
I have a 1TB Sandisk card in my PDR. Works fine there, but I have not yet tried playing back video on any of my PCs. I will try later this week and post the results.

So if I'm understanding... exFAT can make bigger files, but those extra large files cannot then be seen or read by a FAT32 system?

No, the 16GB card that came with the car and is in exFAT is seen and read fine. It looks to be something about the size capability or the microSD vs a standard size SD. Still experimenting.
I have been using an off brand 256GB micro SD card with an adapter. I finally pulled it out to look at some files with Cosworth Tools. Apparently I have some sort of problem. Card specifications are correct and is in exFAT format, files are all there with .mp4 extensions. The first 10 files will play with the windows movie player, any after that will not play at all, message says file extension is wrong or file is corrupted. I haven’t pulled the card out until now so that shouldn’t have corrupted the files (removing card before recording has finished). I can’t open any of them with the Cosworth program, even the first 10 that will play with the movie player. If I select a file Cosworth just locks up. Cosworth program says it’s up to date. My first solution was to order a genuine ScanDisc 128GB SD card directly from ScanDisc. It should be here next week. Hopefully that will solve my problems.

I have a different situation and question. I had a 16G SD card, installed by the NCM at delivery in November. I also have mine set to record every time I start the engine. Last month when I left home to go to the BB at the NCM, I discovered mine only records short sessions, 15 to 30 minutes at a time, before shutting off and starting again, later. I discovered this when I was trying to find the video of my unfortunate experience with a huge piece of metal in the fast lane on I65 enroute to the NCM. That incident was not on video. I don't understand the issue. I put a 256G card in since returning home, and it seems to record consistently. Has anyone experienced the problem of intermittent recording?

How is the 16G card formatted? FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit.
