Default Frunk Safety Wire Still ???

Does anyone still have their Frunk back up safety wire still attached or has the last of you removed it for good? Feeling like the fob OTA was the solution to the bad design? Has there been even one since?

I have not seen any reports of it since the fixes. I never used the one I purchased as the fixes were out before I picked up my C8.

I know that if I remove mine, something will inevitably happen. Rational logic is irrelevant. Just personal historic experiences.

Conversely, what can it hurt? Who knows what a subsequent update may do?

If a someone is trapped in your Frunk, they may not be able to escape. Some may find that to be a feature rather than a flaw.

Lost in the clutter around this issue, some (all) may not recall I had my trunk open by itself while backing out of my garage. Combined with what I know and have observed first hand, there are electrical gremlins in the system. My only question is if they will affect the hood someday? TBD. It's only a very minor inconvenience, but I've had to do much more overhead for safety in the past.

I made one before GM came up with the 'fix'. I'm still waiting for my C8 and I figure since I have it I may as well install it.

I get the humor, but I fabricated mine has am easy open turnbuckle JIC and for effortless "daily" operation as necessary.

Same as @MagicGlass , I got a neck lanyard and keep the Fob in my shirt pocket or in the cup holder while driving. We have also been very disciplined with closing the frunk noting the double "click" engagement before driving... we forgot once and the DIC warnings thankfully worked as advertised.

So the Fob up-date seems to have resolved the "Flying Frunk" issue and our confidence is now positive.

I installed a tether immediately on getting my car back in Jan, and have not/will not remove it. It's no inconvenience and just part of the routine now, when opening the frunk.

Ditto

I started this thread because I was curious as to member feelings now having had time for the subject to simmer down vs starting any controversy all over again.

0% harm in having it.
It is a no-brainer - for me.
Just like insurance and the ____.
For those that chose not to, it is your C8, be happy

I rarely use the frunk- The rear does get warm in the HTC and everything smells "plasticy" when you take it out.

And yet they are required by law to have an emergency release. I forget the size that requires it, maybe the size of a 3 year old.
