Does anyone still have their Frunk back up safety wire still attached or has the last of you removed it for good? Feeling like the fob OTA was the solution to the bad design? Has there been even one since?
Lost in the clutter around this issue, some (all) may not recall I had my trunk open by itself while backing out of my garage. Combined with what I know and have observed first hand, there are electrical gremlins in the system. My only question is if they will affect the hood someday? TBD. It's only a very minor inconvenience, but I've had to do much more overhead for safety in the past.
Never installed one however I do not keep the fob in my pocket when im driving.
Same as @MagicGlass , I got a neck lanyard and keep the Fob in my shirt pocket or in the cup holder while driving. We have also been very disciplined with closing the frunk noting the double "click" engagement before driving... we forgot once and the DIC warnings thankfully worked as advertised.
So the Fob up-date seems to have resolved the "Flying Frunk" issue and our confidence is now positive.
I installed a tether immediately on getting my car back in Jan, and have not/will not remove it. It's no inconvenience and just part of the routine now, when opening the frunk.
I started this thread because I was curious as to member feelings now having had time for the subject to simmer down vs starting any controversy all over again.
