Default Adding the extra cooling

You experts out there, how big a job would it be to add the Z51 extra cooling to a non Z51. C-8 would parts cost be a lot .

Buy the parts, {drill a few holes,} mount the parts, attache the hoses, add fluids, and you are done.

I think there is way more involved than that! The fact there is a fan behind the rear radiator tells you there is a computer and module that controls it. Use your imagination from there.

Probably cost you as much as the Z51 pack, and you still wouldn't have the dif, brakes, and other stuff with the z51 pack.

This is a guy who would open a store selling ice in the Arctic. Are you his buyer?

Nothing is "passive" anymore. Everything is computer controlled and must be tied into the appropriate circuits in the correct ways. Take a look at all the CEL threads companying minor changes in C7s. Anyone think it any less likely the case with C8s?

I’d just like to see upgraded radiators for the front. Better material and more capacity. Corvette market seems to be slower than other cars I’ve owned.

Curious why you think you need this extra cooling? I know you’re in Texas, I’m in sc. we’re not cooking yet but I’ve been in enough stop and go traffic in 90 degree weather that I’m not concerned. I’m thinking after the c7 overheating issues gm over engineered the cooling systems in the 8.

And that's why you would have never ordered the car without Z51 in the first place. If the OP is going to track the car, he should sell this one and get a Z51 car, if he isn't going to track it, there really isn't any reason for additional cooling (unless he's going to pull a 5th wheel trailer ).

Read the owners manual. A non Z51 should not be tracked. That’s what GM states, but what do they know. They only engineer the cars and build them.

Go back and read some tadge on the operating range of the DCT. It's very narrow.

So there's a (easy) 10k issue all day long.

The word narrow is completely subjective. Would you call this narrow? It's a pic of mine at normal operating temp while driving and it shows the caution zone for the transmission. I have almost 100 degrees to go (from normal driving temp), that doesn't seem very narrow to me.

Met want to track it a little and if it cools the engine better that would not be a bad thing . Would have bought the 51 package but wanted all season tires and was not fan of the little wing in the back .

From the presentation a pair of Corvette team "thermal engineers" did at Carlisle in 2019, it seemed the extra radiator was more for the E-LSD than the DCT itself, although it obviously affects both. If by "track it a little bit" you mean an occasional HPDE, I don't think you need to worry. The temps you're going to see doing half a dozen quick laps at a time are nothing like you'd encounter doing lap after lap at race speeds. I've done FAST laps at VIR and the coolant and oil temps barely moved above normal, admittedly on a relatively cool day (mid 70s).

If by "track it a little bit" you mean entering actual races, then what Phil1098 said. Sell it for a profit and buy a Z51.

If it were that benign, you'd be able to add the magnetic ride after the fact too.
