Default Performance Driving School

I was fortunate to meet John, a Forum Moderator, last night and we had a lengthy and very interesting discussion of our Ron Fellows Performance Driving School experiences, since he just completed one of his many trips to Pahrump. He drove the new C8 around the east track, as I did last February. I have said to anyone who would listen at Cars and Coffees and other events that the Ron Fellows experience is the best opportunity to get familiarized with the performance, safety, and other systems in the new Corvette. We were shown how to de-activate Stabilitrak to a number of varying levels to align with the driving we had planned. We were also walked through the use of the PDR and given our personal Scandisks to record our experiences over the two-day event. Since I stayed at the lodge with Caroline, we had the opportunity to enjoy the dining room and happy hours where prices were stunningly low for good food and drinks - so I'd highly recommend staying on-site. Finally, it was simply awesome to be alone in my assigned vehicle (Torch Red like my own) and having an expert racer commenting on my apices, positioning on the track, and gear selection through the Bose system in my C8 (I had to do it myself but I couldn't do it alone... hahaha). Uncanny! Finally, I've attached a screenshot from my PDR recording of a lap on the east course selected at the end of the main straight where you can see my actual speed, 'g'-force, gear selection and rpm, as well as the degree of gas or brake applied. I enjoyed the symmetry in this shot where

at 120 mph, I was in 5th gear at 5,000 rpm, steering straight without my right foot on gas or brake. I look forward to other folks' experiences.

That's a decent speed for the end of that straight. Love that track.
