Default Engine Compartment

I think I got unwanted results of using GRIOT's Ceramic trim Wipes in the engine bay of my new C8. I applied it to the hard black plastic that surrounds the engine bay and the inside of the trunk lid. I wanted it to be a nice shiny black but it came out all blotchy and does not look good at all. Any ideas on how to make this trim around the engine look dressed up?

I've seen a few photos where people had it vinyl wrapped, and they looked really nice.
