Default Courtesy Delivery

Couple of questions for those who have used this.
Does the selling dealer set this up with a dealer in your particular area?
What does the courtesy dealer actually do at the PDI?
Assume there is a dealer fee for their activity ?
Does the courtesy dealer collect any state sales tax title fee's etc. or is the buyers responsibility to go the the DMV to take care of that?
Anything else you found important, please note. Thanks Tom

  1. That depends on your selling dealer. Some will, some won't.
  2. What they SHOULD do is follow the PDI instructions and give you an orientation to the car and a full tank of gas. What they actually do will greatly depend on the dealer selected.
  3. Yes, the courtesy delivery dealer charges a fee, $300 to $1000. Totally up to the courtesy delivery dealer.
  4. That depends on both the selling dealer and the courtesy dealer. Some selling dealers handle it for you, some don't. Sometimes the courtesy dealer will handle if the selling dealer didn't, sometimes they won't and it is then up to you.

I setup Courtesy Delivery thru MacMulkin - Shane reached out to my local dealership GM. MM has a form letter/email agreement that the CD/GM answers and also their cost for this service.
MM than shared the proposal agreement to me for approval. Any questions I had were answered up front before I approved CD agreement.
Also my CD agreed to handle state DMV paperwork and fees.

Purchased at Kerbeck with a courtesy delivery at Stingray Chevrolet in Florida. I had to contact Stingray and get a specific "NUMBER" for Kerbeck. Think it was a dealer number but can't remember. Also Kerbeck wanted a contact name and address for Stingray. Kerbeck sent this info to GM and a few days later Kerbeck notified me that GM accepted the request. . . Stingray did the entire PDI per GM specs as they are reputable and knew what to do. Fees are all over the board $300-1000. Stingray was $450. Kerbeck did all of the paperwork with Florida DMV. The car came with NJ Tplates and registration. Within a month I received Florida plates, registration, and the title from FL DMV. Stingray was not involved with this process. When I picked up the car at Stingray all I paid them was the PDI charge.

I will be doing courtesy delivery. Call around to dealers near you. If you say they will do it find out how much and what all they do. Also ask about sales tax and DMV registration.

Two choices. Courtesy Chevy in San Diego or Quality Chevy in Escondido. Have you called around?

I would assume so but ask them. I paid Kerbeck the sales tax.
