I love when people claim to know how police operate, but have no police experience. That’s like me stating I know the best way to perform a brain operation.
Looks like there are a bunch of paranoid sissies here. You already got a ticket (for the very few of you that did)! You tell us the speed limit & what speed is on the ticket. Surely I'm a highway patrolman, your local cop or someone that's out to get you if you say "yeah I was doing 87 in a 75 zone". I'll probably be at your house to arrest you within the next day or two. I don't even know what data mining is! Weird people here!

Its a little deeper than that.
Folks are usually only good at what they practice.
If you dont practice a particular skill, there is very little you can tell those who do.
Experience and wisdom usually have positive affects on the outcome.
Speed by itself is not dangerous, too much speed for the situation is. I grew up in Germany, learned to drive there and drove a lot of Autobahn often at high speeds (legally). The big difference in situations between the German Autobahn and US freeways is that in most US states neither driver education nor vehicle or roadway maintenance are suitable for speeds like that. What does it help you if you are the perfect driver in the perfect car if ahead of you a 1990s minivan on three bald tires and a donut with a dreaming driver loses control and flips right into your car? I like spirited driving when I am alone on the road, but I would never drive here like I do when I am in Germany. The mere thought of going 160 mph on the interstate makes my hair stand on end, not because of my skill set or car, but because of others'.
I can relate to every word you said. Although I didn't grow up in Germany, I did spend most of my young adult life in Germany. Between the ages of 20 and 40, I spent 14 years in Germany, 3 separate USAF tours. I have always said I felt safer on the autobahn at 100 mph than I did in the US at 70 mph. One major difference, the Germans have a very detailed and time consuming driver training program they must pass before they can even apply for a driver's license. My wife is German, and I still remember my brother-in-law having to take the course three times before he finally passed it. There is a substantial cost each time you take it. Two big things they learn that most Americans have you to understand, the proper use of signal lights, and never enter the fast lane except to pass. I'm 75 now, but still miss my days on the autobahn! A fantastic driving experience.

I don’t remotely understand what the above even means. Cops, just like us, are all different and work for different supervisors in departments that have different enforcement criteria. There are truly great cops who genuinely try to ascertain whether the issue is one of safety or simply one of legality or quota pressures. There are also cops, just like us, who arrogantly and constantly seek to teach every speeder a lesson.
The second time I used it about a month ago, it alerted me to debris in the interstate ahead. It was right, and I avoided some construction lumber. It was helpful that time.
You should have called a Brink's truck and claimed that gold.......................

Funny, I hear of these quotas yet in 21 years as an LEO never once has it been discussed at my agency. Are there some supervisors/agencies that may put pressure on officers to write more tickets? Most likely, yes. Are there hard core quotas in place. No.
Did you mean I26 & I95? I can't imagine three interstates in SC!
Edit: Dang, there is an I20, right in Florence. Should look out for a speed trap there next time.
Yep big drug interdiction effort by troopers and local police in that 30 mile stretch. . Can go to Texas on I 20 and not hit a light. Similar from Miami to NE cites with high populations. Have seen as many as 20+ blacked out SUV's (most confiscated in drug raids) on a focused effort. Local paper said there were two helicopters in one operation.
Yep be sure you don't have a license plate frame that covers ANY PART OF ANY LETTER OR NUMBER. Illegal in SC (as well as some other States.) BUT also a good excuse to pull you over and check, license, registration, insurance. Also if any question about your condition they have a Van with a Pee check. Also have drug sniffing dogs. Refuse and you'll go to a judge and have your car towed. License plate frame violation is $150.

I rode my Harley all throughout Europe for two summers a few years ago, and I can attest that the European drivers are clearly schooled on proper driving etiquette. I wish in Texas they would make questions regarding driving slow in the left lane a pass/don't pass question.

I wish they'd do it in all states, and enforce it.....

The I95 corridor is a major drug route to the NE from Florida. We got stopped twice in Georgia for spot check with my wife's blacked out Chrysler 300. Both times I got a warning for too dark tinting which is legal in Florida, but not in Georgia (we had a PA tag). I had the cruise set to limit plus 14 and it didn't seem to be an issue. The trooper was on the opposite side and he made a big U turn across the median to catch up to me. At the second time I had a conversation with the trooper and he said the tint was just an excuse and they catch drug trafficers this way. He was almost apologetic once he saw 2 grey haired people in the car.
Was doing 425 when f16 fighter plane pulled up next to me I said no way I’m going to let him pass drop trans down to 2 second gear mashed on gas pedal all he saw was tail lights in the distance gone. No tickets for the policeman ball for me I always follow break in advice
put your reading glasses on I did not say I mashed down on a gas pedal in a f16 fighter plane I said a f16 fighter plane pulled up next to me that means I was not the one in the f16 take it easy it was just in funn be sides the c8 can only go 194 stock not 425 mph sorry 😢 I hurt your feelings go to your safe space and let the big boy’s play

Last I heard, there are no absolutes, even in Oklahoma. These isolated but nationwide LEO behaviors have been occurring since the 1950’s and actually increased significantly following the 2008 economic downturn when many cities increased their radar budgeting by 30% or more.
Hmm, couple of foolish statements, "another performance car pulls alongside." Crazy to be enticed to speed because someone in next to you, IMO! Speeding during break-in not smart.
Going 90+ (which I do frequently in 55 mph limit rural roads with no homes or traffic and only corn and cotton on the sides) will still get you 6 points and reckless driving ticket. Have not had a ticket with my last 4 Vettes. Don't go that fast where it's unsafe for anyone else or where police would be there (or any car for that matter.) Have not had an accident with another car in 60 years of driving (required luck as well as very defensive driving.) Stopped doing foolish things with cars when 19 - not so smart when 17 and 18- just lucky. Yep 78 and turn 19 when I get in my C8! Note, not 17 or 18 so don't rely on luck to be safe!
That's what terrifies me - especially on rural highways. ^^^^ A "90+ mph driver in a 55 mph zone" - or any zone. I just don't understand why anyone would do that on public streets and highways. 😔

The law in Oklahoma that prohibits more than 50% revenue from tickets has been on the books for quite some time and it’s well understood in the law enforcement community. There is no ticket quota. It’s a belief by those who are uninformed about the police profession.
I have to admit that sometimes I speed but never in residential areas, where there is a lot of traffic, or bad weather. I also accept the fact that I may
get a speeding ticket but it won’t be a large one or an automatic court appearance because I never exceed the speed limit by much. That being said some guy was filling up his Mustang and looks over and says to me “want to race”? I tell him no and he says “figures” then “why did you buy the car then”. I didn’t even waste my breath to respond lol.
