True BUT California residents need to get Y5F or they’ll have problems at DMV and they’ll lose the 6 model year smog test exemption. DMV will inspect for the California emissions sticker under the hood. Ask me how I know.
After you pass the first smog you will not need to smog for 6 years even if the car is not a CA emission car for CA....this is according to the CA DMV. I asked that question when I registered.
Took my C8 for vehicle inspection and it failed because Evap and O2 sensor showed “ not ready” didn’t throw any codes. Anyone else have this problem?
Had 5 recalls done at MacMulkin , they had my C8 , 3 days ...I live in Massachusetts , drove home 50 miles & everything OK , no codes , next day went to get sticker , got rejected same situation as u sensors "not ready " ............... you have to drive ur C8 for 5/6 days with approx 12 ,cold start cycles for computer to re - boot , everthing will be OK , have had my C8 since March 2020 ... no problems at all ,, u will be OK , remember cold start to operating temp cycles will reset ..... will pass
Yes. I’m in Texas and our great Republic will allow 1 to not be “ready” but I have 2, the evap and O2 sensor. The tech recommended I drive it some more. Anyone know a faster remedy. What is a referee station?
If you are in Texas, why are you getting it inspected? New cars don't have to be inspected for 2 years. You have to have it inspected to get your registration and I got mine right away.

If it is not delivered by a Texas dealer, it has to be inspected. For example, my C8 ordered from MacMulkin in NH with NCM delivery in KY had to be inspected before I could register it in Texas. Wehn you buy a car from a TX dealer, they do the initial 2 year inspection. That doesn't/can't happen with an out of state purchase.
Wow. 1500 miles. That’s more than I do in a year. They’re making me create more emissions than I normally do to lower emissions? Something don’t sound right here.
There is a faster way as someone else indicated. My C6 Z06 sits a lot and the battery goes dead and dumps the codes. Before I get it smogged (Las Vegas) after charging the battery, I use the GM drive cycle you can find on line. It is a little bid of a pain, with cold starts and several accelerations to 55-60 mph, hold for 5 minutes, and coast downs to 20 mph. If some of your sensors are already up, it could take less time, but the full cycle usually takes me 30-40 miles and needs to be done on a fairly isolated road since the coast downs are annoying to traffic. I still don't get "Evap" up, though. Good luck.
Never had an issue taking delivery at NCM and driving the 900 miles back to Texas and then get the emissions test pass the next day so I could apply for title and license.

Been there and done that 4 times already with NCM deliveries. The initial "Green Sheet" inspection gives you 2 years on the emissions check but only 1 year on the safety inspection. It's only one year on safety inspection due to the fact that Texas does not recognize it as a new car any longer. Untitled/Never titled used car yes.
Not two weeks ago.....all sensors must report ready.
In November 2020, my C6 passed with Evap incomplete for the CA bi-annual smog test. In March of 2021, I had to get another smog certificate (more than 90 days since the last) because I sold the C6 and the Evap was incomplete and it passed.
Any emission DTC's code will flag a smog test, but not the Evap incomplete readiness code in CA.

You need to use your Corvette for some road trips. I suggest the western portion of Route 66 (Tulsa westward) and the Talimena National Scenic Byway in OK and AR.
well thanks to you Zymurgy, my fellow Texan, after 560 miles of spirited driving in our great Republic, I was able to pass inspection. I have to admit this car is outstanding !!! What a fun car to drive and the more you drive it, the better it gets.

Are you saying your car did NOT have Y5F on the sticker?
I read the same stories so I made a plan.....since I had 20 days to register the car after it arrived in CA, I delayed the process right up to the last day (BTW the DMV is a place where people from the deepest depth of the earth hang out). Paid my sales tax and registration, car VIN verified, then a 30 temporary permit to operate as I didn’t have a smog cert. I bought an OBDII reader (months earlier) and monitored the I/M statuses after every drive. A week before the 30 day permit was to expire, I made an appointment with the smog ref. 48 hours before my appointment and 72 hours before my 30 day temp ran out, the O2 flipped to “ready” at exactly 700 miles. Went to a smog station and passed, cancelled the ref appointment, and again went to DMV ( with the usual characters present), and got my registration and plates (the ugly white ones, black 60’s on order).
Viola....easy (not).
brother I think you just talked me out of museum delivery 😂

I’ve driven back to California twice after Museum delivery and they both smogged first time, no problems. The issue of systems being not ready would only arise if you took Museum delivery and then trailered or trucked it back to California. Driving back, the car has plenty of time to cycle through all the internal tests so it’s ready for a successful smog inspection when you arrive home.

Yes this was my problem. I trailered my car home from the museum and had little to no miles when I got home. This was my first vehicle purchased out of state so I had no idea I would have to get all thecomputer system test in ready mode to pass inspection. It was an extra headache but not really a pain but It would have been nice if I had known up front that I would have this problem, but in the end it all worked out. I got to learn a lot about the car while putting miles on it.

I tried to get the local 2 dealerships to do a courtesy delivery but one wanted $1500 and the other $2500....even asked if the standard delivery charge ($1100 I think) would offset some of those costs (no). So the CO dealer not only honored the deal from the previous deal (MSRP+$2k), but delivered via Plycar inclusive as well.

Interesting. Sounds like the dealer treated you fairly.
That said, I’m willing to bet you could have found one for courtesy delivery somewhere in the LA area for far less. Here in San Diego they charge $500-$900 but a couple area dealers refuse to do them at all.
I think some dealers charge outrageous prices to discourage you from buying elsewhere. Why most dealers charge for courtesy delivery at all is a mystery to me since they, not the selling dealer, apparently get paid for the PDI by GM just as if they’d sold you the car. Doesn’t make sense to me since if they do a good PDI and delivery, you’re likely to return for service, which is a major ongoing source of profit for them. Some dealers just don’t seem to take the long view, do they?
One dealer that’s in the city where I live still asks $40k over window, so the $1500 they wanted was probably to discourage me from buying elsewhere or out of state….BTW, with the couple of experiences with them trying to buy a Bolt for my son and a Volt for my neighbor, I would never do business with them, yet alone have the Vette serviced.
The other dealer was Rydell who are the top Vette volume seller in SoCal. I tried to buy from them but they would not go below $18k over window….they wanted $2500 and just wanted to be the highest price to have me go elsewhere….but they have 4 Vette certified mechanics and will be the place I go for warranty/service until my Indy gets the right tools (computer) to service the Vette.
