Try as I might- Track mode/sport mode- double press traction button- quickly, slowly. lightly, heavily. Tried In park, in drive, foot on brake, foot mashed in break- I do not get a launch control notification. Yesterday I did hit a 2.8 with esc off in track 75 degrees almost sea level tires norm All seasons non z51.
c7 did it and you should have selectable mode for competition - ie wet/ dry/ race etc
I think you're confusing it with PTM, I have a 1LT and no PTM and still have launch control, it's separate and there is no indicator, just that the RPMs go to 3,500. (if the criteria is met, I.E. steering wheel is straight, brake pushed hard enough, traction control turned off, in sport or track mode)
If you want a real thrill put the transmission in MANUAL mode.
Turn the Mode select **** to TRACK
Push traction control button twice.
Turn the mode select **** to "PTM DRY"
Left Foot hard on the brake
Right foot hard on the gas
Take your foot off the brake & hang on.........in less than 2 seconds you'll hit the rev limiter................ because it wont shift out of 1st
For the C8's with PTM: Any particular PTM mode benefit launch control mode? For example, race, or does PTM benefit only on a road course and not straight line ?

I tried multiple modes at home and at Spring Mountain and I’ve not seen a difference. Since it’s the quickest way to do it I go to sport mode, push traction control twice and the display says “Competitive Mode”. Then as others have stated foot HARD on the brake, floor the gas and keep it floored. Several people at Spring Mountain on their first runs were letting off the gas a second or two after launch and that kicks it out of launch control according to the instructors.

Unrelated to launch control, that is a reason I stopped using only Manual Mode! At the end of my rural road is a stop sign. Often have to merge into heavy traffic going 70 mph+. Manual Mode hits rev limiter at ~35 mph in 1st gear! Gets there in the blink of an eye. Upshift paddle not in positon to pull with wheel turned sharply! No fun hitting a wall when all fuel shuts off and cars coming up quickly behind!
Drive now in Z Mode Power set to Track. Shifts to 2nd at ~6500 rpm all by itself!
Hi guys got some questions! many questions actually as I don't hve the C8 yet! After launching it and when you hear tires spin or road is slippery and tires spin, do you just keep it floored and car will handle the rest? you don't let go the gas when tires spin then floor it back down right?
I heard you get the best 0 to 60 time with everything off, but with stability off is it dangerous to launch it like that ?! Will it go side ways?! or it's ok since it's just going straight?
If the brake isn't fully floored, rpm won't go all the way up to 3500 ( only 1500 to 2500 I think?) Is it NO PROBLEM on the car to KEEP doing it like that, reasons to do it is I want to take it easy on the tranny , or when you know you can beat the car lined up next to you pretty easily, or surface is kind of slipper so you don't want to launch at 3500rpm etc.
Have anyone messed up the tranny from doing too many launch controls or it can take some beatings? I suppose at most launch it 3,4 times in a row and let it rest 5 to 10 min? The launching 1st gear does it always using the same clutch or it will alternate with the other one?

Wonder the same! My Street Rod with 8.2 Liter BB set back in chassis and 53% weight in rear wheels. and 16.5 inch wide section thickness Mickey Thomason Tires just has postreaction. Increase rpm to 2500 torque converter stall speed and IF one tire looses traction due to road get ~1/2 section to lift or car makes a quick 90 degree turn in direction of spinning tire! To many stores folks with stability control off! Although C8 only has 305 tires rear traction on launch is better than my Street Rod!
^^^ Thanks. Yep, ~50 but built it 21 years ago and now mostly goes now to 3 shows/year. Two associated with large local town Festivals. Don't go for the trophies but to meet the other folks and look at new cars. Kids love mine and enjoy having young folks interested.
Some of the teenagers are most interested in what I call a "sound wall" I built for the rear! With the engine set back in the chassis and the large rear tubs, no room for a rear seat. So built it to fill the space, and hold the battery! Lots of amps and power but rather hear the BB with long tube headers and straight thorough Bola's in 3 inch pipes.
