Default Delayed response

I have a 2021 non Z51 C8.
I notice that when I floor the accelerator in virtually any driving condition, the full power of the engine does not come thru for about 2 seconds. The car responds with added power immediately however full power does not show for a second or two. Could this be a function of ESC to prevent wheel spin (something that should not be an issue when traveling above 30 MPH)? The engine is not bogging down. The best way to describe it is almost like the lag one would experience with turbo lag in a turbo charged car. Obviously the C8 is not turbocharged however the symptom almost feels like it.I do drive with the settings in tour mode most of the time however this still appears when I change to sport mode also.

What driving mode are you in? If Z mode, what is the drivetrain setting? Manual or Automatic shift?

I noticed this on the C7 also. They make gizmo’s for the gas petal that I believe go from 0-10. Most people are comfortable at 6. Oh by the way most people don’t notice the hesitation. But some of us do. Not sure why GM does this.

Normally I drive in Tour mode but will occasionally switch to Sport Mode. The brief hesitation is present in both.
Is there a setting where the response would be without any type of delay?

Are you in manual or auto? Is the delay while it down shifts when you step in it? If the tires are cold and/or you're in a low gear you can break the tires loose at a decent speed and will engage traction or stability control and reduce throttle. So many factors it's going to be really hard to diagnose without much more specific info.

In auto with tires warm. When flooring it, the tires do not break lose enough to trigger a reaction from T/C or ESC (It's barely a chirp). It feels more like a preemptive reduction to not allow tire slippage in the first place.

Is your car past the 500 mile mark?
I don't notice any lag but I'm usually in Z-Mode (pretty much left at the default settings) when I'm flooring the car. And if I'm going slow when I floor it I'm in the next gear after a couple of seconds so it is hard to tell.
You may want to try Z-Mode or Track Mode (don't turn off the nannies) to see if you still notice the problem.

It’s the torque management in the ECM software. They use this to roll into the power to help with the shock to the drivetrain that dumping all the torque in an instant would cause. They’ve used this for a long time now, since the electronic throttle system has been around.

ChiTownVetteTec's explanation makes sense. Perhaps this is just a designed in characteristic to protect the drivetrain?????
