Why would that change if the engine was in the front or the middle? Am I missing something?

"...Why would that change..." We were always told when I was a kid working in dealership that it was as one was seated in the car. Maybe the OP was thinking the same and realized he'd have to turn around to see the engine, hence reversing his respective sides in the process. Or, maybe not...

Just think Driver’s or Passenger’s side.

Sorry: I was thinking that the engine was rotated in the vehicle for mid engine. I now realize it is just moved back

The intake moved to the opposite side, might confuse some folks.

I needed to order a new applique for the engine cover and there is a right and left, so I was not sure what to order, because i thought engine was rotated rather than moved back

Even if it was rotated backwards the front of the engine is always in the same place.
The accessory section is the same as any other front engine Vette, but the intake is facing the rear of the car.

If the intake is facing rear, does that mean that the engine cover is backwards also?

No, the engine cover is unique to the LT2 so it’s in the only orientation it’s ever been in.

Feel sorry for the person who perhaps waited for over a year, and have it stolen from the dealership ( Novi Michigan)

Now you know, left is driver’s side, right is passenger side.

Best of luck with your parts order.

Has nothing to do what direction the engine is facing! Even in some cars where the engine is sideways, some FWD, a few ME's! The reference is if sitting in the Driver's seat! So left right front back doesn't change! Same with my Corvair and Porsche. Spark plugs are right or left even in that "backward facing engine!

In this case yes. If it were a right hand drive model that reverses.

best to go old school. Describe left or right as you are seated in the car looking forward .

Hmm, that makes no sense! In the UK the left front wing is on the left of the driver sitting in the driver's seat! Would only change (I guess) if the seat is facing backward!!!

But if described by where driver and passenger sit, the Driver Side is right!

Perhaps you should reread Vetteman Jack’s post that I responded to. He said driver’s side is left and passenger’s side is right.

Yep, as I said IF defined by "driver's side," as I said, agree. Have always defined right and left as if "sitting in the driver's seat." Same with my Corvair(s) were the "front of the engine" is where the flywheel is located! Gets confusing with rear engine cars!
