I discovered a link on Facebook on wiring OEM Engine Bay lights to garage door openers, I did this and it works great. Sorry I do not have pics. I already had the OEM lights installed so all I had to do is order the device mentioned in the post ($14.00 on Amazon) and then pull off the left side panel behind the drivers side and splice the device wires into the wiring harness, then program the visor buttons. This is not my idea....after my install I sent a thank you to Gilbert Hernandez thanking him for the post. This is a very easy way to light the engine bay by just pressing the visor buttons or the remote. OEM lights obviously are not overbearing, it looks great when the car is parked during dark hours. Answers to the questions. My goal was to be able to add the lights, be able to control them from inside or outside the car with the car running or not running. I also wanted to be able to remove it and go back to stock. I bought a 11 inch LED light strip off of Amazon. It's powered by 6 AAA batteries. It came with a white housing so I painted it black. I then used high heat double sided tape to mount it to the top of the hatch. I considered screwing it into the plastic part of the hatch but then there would be two holes if/when I removed it. I will monitor the tape but so far no issues.
As mentioned it was a quick install and didn't cost much.
Looks great! The ones you bought, did they have a setting for brightness too? I have a real dumb idea to get an OBD II reader hooked up to an arduino and read the engine rpm’s then tie brightness to that. Ty for the idea at least! 😁

Thank you..
There's a button on the remote to increase the brightness.
