Side Blind Zone Alert Intermittent
If yours is intermittent, it sounds like a bad sensor or connection to the sensor, in the back bumper. Time for a trip to the dealer, I think.
As the ~1990s SAE paper on defensive driving stated, "It's NOT the folks immediately on your rear fenders that are important (set the mirrors properly and you can see those) it's the ones further behind, driving fast who will soon be there!"
I have my "TV mirror" set with a wide range view. Granted like the passenger door mirror (and similar to the Meat Loaf song) "Objects In The Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear" but easy to get used to! In fact, recently checked to see how much "CLOSER" they are compared to what shows on the passenger door convex mirror- they are NOT quite as close at the setting I use.

Yep, I do as well. BUT that takes a good view of the rear. I had no issue following the 1990's SAE paper recommendations (which took over a page to describe why it was so important to follow cars who will soon be on your rear fenders) in my 1988, 1993 and 2008 Vette coupes. But my 2014 C7 had a restricted rear view and my 2017 Grand Sport with Stage 2 Aero option that included side extensions to the rear spoiler was worse. It was almost as bad as a rag top Vert with the top up. That made me post this pic where I added a small blind sport mirror. It defines in very few words what takes a page+ of the SAE article on "Defensive Driving." That paper also defined how to "properly set the door mirrors." Folks often post that pic to say how to set the mirrors "properly" but forget to follow the cryptic advice printed on the right and shown in pics.
Had tried the actual center mirror in my C8 Coupe. The rear view is worse than the C7- poor. BUT the "TV Mirror" set with a wide view is great. I can see cars on either side close and far back. Granted like the passenger door mirror states "Objects are closer than they appear" but easy to get used to that as I have the passenger side convex mirror for 60 years. In fact I attribute my not having an accident with another car in 60 years partly to knowing what cars are behind me at all times (and LUCK.) (Probably started as a teenager looking for police!)
Pic made from SAE Tech Paper on "Defensive Driving" around 1990. The right side discusses what that paper took a page+ to define. It's NOT the cars immediately on your rear fenders that are only important it's those coming up fast behind who will soon be there!
Been following the advice of knowing where all cars are around me especially those coming up fast from behind since a teenage- well before the 1990 SAE Tech paper. Probably because was always looking for cops!
