Default Painted oem tips black

Tried something I haven't seen posted, used plastidip on the tips to black them out.

Plastodip has held up well with my other vehicles for years on the mufflers and tips.

The paint requires no prep and peels off when you want it gone.

Mine held up just fine.
Had this done on my C7 also, 3 years 20k miles and not a blemish on them.

Edit: Mine are painted, not plasti-dipped.

Looks good I have done this as well on other cars. I have few cans currently of their gloss black and it even has little flake to it.

It's lasted on my Subaru for 10 years and 100k miles and then my M2 for 2 years and 20k miles. Never did it to a vette but will keep you all posted if it fails.

To each their own, but I don't like it. Makes the exhaust tips disappear and not even noticeable.

How about glow in the dark Plastidip exhaust tips. You will have people following you around trying to figure out what is going on. Of course you could get rear ended from the tailgating, so maybe not a good idea.

I have no more muffler and fire comes out the back. I doubt plastidip would hold up. 🤣

Thx for the post. I put plastidip over my marker lights/reflectors, but had not considered the exhaust.

I like it.

My opinion is that the rear of the car is "busy", and the black tips blending in, makes for a less cluttered look.

Don't get me wrong, it looks good either way.

With flames coming out the back I would be a bit concerned about the rear bumper and exhaust surround! Forget the Plastidip.

A lot of cars have that same look and get it by not cleaning their tips.

I like the look of the polished tips, but the Plasti-Dip coverage is easy enough to do, cheap enough and can be reversed easily. For those that like black exhaust tips, this is a good option.
