I did not like the look of the GM Aero Side Skirts with that big vertical fin at the back. The shape of the body NEEDS protection from road debris kicked up from the front tires with the "dog leg" area of the body being the most vulnerable to rock chips, tar, animal guts, etc. I developed a solution I think looks good and after 4,000 mile, appears to be effective (as to protecting the body). I started with a 3/8" thick slab of visible carbon fiber and cut two side splitters. Effective and looks good without being too obvious....

Al, that really looks great, but how about some more details. I don't have my C8 yet so knowing the length and width of your material would help. Also where you got the material and cost, did you get 2 separate pieces or cut from 1, and how you attached them.
Thank you.
Carbon fiber panels can be cut with a hacksaw, jigg saw with a carbide tip hacksaw blade, or table saw with a fine tooth carbide blade. Be careful of the dust / chips. Very abrasive. Panels were attached with 3M automotive, two side tape and SS screws through the rocker panel.
Now 5,000 miles on my C8 here in North East PA where our roads crews love to use "chips and oil" to replace our secondary streets. With the side splittes I fabricated, the rockers and body side panels are staying clean and chip free.

Just to add, I've also had good luck minimizing chips, burrs, splintering etc cutting CF by putting down a layer or two of painters tape across the area you're cutting (both sides).
Back to the topic - those look great. I might just have to DIY a set for myself. Not the biggest fan of the 5VM style, but digging these.
