I have had a number of new cars that had that same smell when new. It went away the more I drove the car.

Picked up my C8 it got 3 miles, drove 7 miles home and it got the burnt toast smell, can't really pin point where it came from. Didn't have that burnt smell in the cabin at all, but as soon as I got out the door I smelled it. For me it's burnt toast smell so.......it's probably the same burnt smell as you guys? just new car on the coating on the exhaust?

Now later if there is actually a problem and there is also a burnt smell, how do you tell where the 2nd burnt smell is coming from?

My understanding from previous posts. The smell is caused by protective products on the exhaust system. And the fiberglass material and bonding resins of the body panels.
I agree it was concerning when first took delivery last July of my HTC. The smell did dissipate after the 500 mile break-in suggest during this time. If possible to open the trunk lid which helps heat/odor to escape when car is parked.

Mine had a burning smell for about the first 500 miles or so.

IDK if it's true but I was told by my dealer before I did my museum delivery that there was a sticker that had to burn off the exhaust and it would cause the smell for a bit.
