In October 2020 I placed an order with my local GM dealer for a 2021 C8 2LT Convertible, turning over my 2017 C7 in down payment. Unfortunately, I had not done my homework well enough before placing this order so didn't ask the right questions or get full information. In December 2020 I learned a little and asked the dealer how many allocations this dealer had and where I 2 was in the that list. I was told they had 43 allocations and I was #29. A couple of months later, I asked how many of those allocations were getting to the factory each month and was told 3 to 4. In March I asked again where I was and was told I had gotten to #18. Then I asked for an update in early July and was told I had only advanced 3 places to #15. I now feel that I have been mislead by the dealer and that he is not giving me the "truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth". I suspect that I am being pushed back in priority as other customers have placed orders since mine was placed and they have offered higher premiums. Every thing I have read indicates the normal waits have been in the 9 to 10 months range. Can anyone enlighten me, tell me what I can do and help me understand the process better? At the current rate, my order will not even get tot he factory until spring 2022. Thanks
I agree with above comments, sounds like they could be telling you the truth. Looks like you are going to have to ride that sinking ship down to the bottom. If you don't, your only option is starting over at another dealership and waiting 12-18 months. I waited 13 months and it felt like I had won the lottery when the dealer charged me MSRP.
In September 2020 I placed my first order for a 2021 C-8 with a top 15 dealer. On December 30th I placed another order at a top 10 dealer that had a mere 35 more allocations per year. That car was produced August 4th and I pick up next week. Total wait just over 7 months. My other order which I will cancel next week is not even 1100 for a 2022 yet. But I was called the other day to prepare my specifications as they were getting ready to place.
My point is this dealer gets over 100 allocations per year and based on his monthly allocations and delivery times, I could expect the car by January 2022 or 16 months.
By the way did I mention the owner of the dealership is a friend of mine.
I feel your pain....I ordered my 2lt 2021 convertable the middle of feb 2021. I too had a 2017 c7 coup, longbeach red that i just loved, it was my first but I kept it...They had offered me $40,000 trade in...I sold it to dealer in july for $49,300////.
But my dealer was only getting 3 to 4 alocations a month..Well the 2021 model went and now I am getting the 2022 model BUT I did not realize the price increase, mine went up $2500.....So I droped one of my options...
I told my dealer it was not my fault but thats just the way it is..So hear we are and I really do not know when I will get mine..Its VERY upsetting...My dealer still thinks i will get mine before dec..????
At least I got almost $10,000 more than they said...
I am very upset but am still hanging in there. What more can I do...Good luck to us...
I can’t believe how I lucked out. I put a deposit down on Nov 30, 2020, and was told that I was #8 on their list. When I called for status on Feb 1, I was told that they had more than one salesman putting people on the list, so they reordered it and now I was #12. I called around to other local dealers, and found one that only had 4 people on the list. I immediately put a deposit down with dealer # 2 and cancelled with dealer #1. The odd part was that dealer #2 would let people get on the list without leaving a deposit. A week later, I got a call from dealer #2 saying they received an extra allocation, and none of the 4 people ahead of me were in a position to put down a deposit at that time, so it was mine if I wanted it. Duh! My order went in on Feb 15th, and I got museum delivery on Jun 30.
I have an odd problem. I have a 1st deposit with Ciocca #2377. I also have a deposit with a Pa. dealer where I am #5 out of 12 allotments and have a code 1100. At what point do I need to decide, and who do I stick with?

When one asks for a non refundable deposit! That means you're in line for them to place an order (at least from Ciocca- where I got my 2020 C8 when they were Kerbeck) and their allocation and GM's order accepting intake rate means you'll get it!
Or you can place non refundable deposits and go into the used car business selling one! Don't forget the sales tax, licensing requirements however. C8's are still commanding a big premium over MSRP by folks who want one NOW!
