I apologize right up front..... I know the answers are posted in many threads but I have a few questions about the current delivery time frame.
I order from a small Corvette dealer and honestly its not his focus so he simply does not know the process like a bigger corvette dealer. He orders the car and when it shows it shows. Hes only sold 2 20's no 21s and reached out to me today and says to his complete surprise he was awarded an allocation. Just got an email in which he said if I want the car it needs to be ordered in the next week or so. I think GM has changed the allocation process but am not up on any of the details.
Do allocations still happen monthly? I know its a crap shoot but assuming he orders the car next week it should be produced by year end? If he has this 2 week window does it need to be ordered ASAP or can I wait until the end of his order window? I was hoping to get to Carlisle on 8/28 to see some color combos but suspect that may be too late for this cycle.
“Some” say you can postpone your allocation…but that likely applies to the big dealers who have an ongoing list and can let the next person in line “pass you” and you’ll get an allocation from the next that comes - which with a big dealer should be quick. But with a small dealer, there’s no saying if or when it will get its next allocation…so you’d be making a mistake IMO to let this window of opportunity pass! There are many people here on this forum who would maim and kill to have your dilemma! Congrats, enjoy and good luck!
Your dealer probably knows more than they are telling you. If he really does have an allocation he knows when his cut off is (probably Tuesday like posted above) and he will be ordering a car with or without you since he will easily be able to sell the car once it comes in for more than MSRP and he knows it.
Here's what he sent me........ and I've bought a few cars from him..... great guy...but not sure he knows more then hes telling me!!
Okay big guy. You interested in a 2022 Corvette? Not a Z06 no.
We were stunned to learn this week we earned a 2022. I have to order it in the next week or two.
I offered it to our third person on our 2020 allocation, but they found one already. So you're next.
I DO need to sell this one at MSRP though. Let me know ok?
As I mentioned I'm not sold on a color yet. Saw the yellow one time and was amazed by it. that will be the color although I never was a yellow fan. Guess I'll order it........go to Carlisle and see all the colors and maybe he can change the color...if not no big deal...... there's always the next one. I saw a black yesterday and was just blown away by that too. Saw all the colors at spring mountain in the spring and they all looked great.

The "next week or two" comment just does not make any sense. Regardless of how many order cycles there are in a month, they always start with a Consensus on Thursday. Then the actual allocations occur the next Thursday and orders have to be assigned to those allocations by Saturday (possibly later). By Wednesday, it is all over. The orders that were assigned to allocations have been moved to status 3000. When the Consensus starts, dealers are told how many of what vehicles they are going to be getting. Dealers can ask for less/more. In the case of the Corvette, asking for more is pointless at this time as everybody wants more but nobody is going to get more than GM assigned. Hence the name "Consensus". GM and the dealers are coming to a consensus (agreement) on how many of what they will get. It's not an agreement where both side are equal - GM has the final say regardless of a dealer asking for less or more.
So, if you dealer was notified in the consensus last Thursday, they will get that allocation this Thursday and that order needs to be assigned to that allocation within 3 or so days.

Thanks in advance.
I saved an explanation from Dave Salvatore when it was Kerbeck. Big or small dealer GM treats all the same. Here is the key part that affects you:
Allocations are normally communicated to dealers on Thursday along with the nationwide constraints. The dealers allocations will specify exactly how many of what, with which constraints, they have available to them. Dealers have until Saturday to assign their orders to their allocations. This process is known as the "Dealer Order Submission Process" (DOSP). There is also a separate twice monthly "consensus cycle" when dealers agree to accept the allocations offered by Chevrolet. Once your order is assigned to an allocation, your order will progress to 2000 by the following Tuesday. Once you are at 2000, you have made it past the whole allocation/constraint hurdle and you are on your way to having your car built.
Note, Dave says it's twice a month BUT that was for the C6 and 2017 Grand Sport I bought from Kerbeck. For my 2020 C8 I also bought from them was only once a month. Believe it may still be for C8s.
Sounds like you need to call the dealer on Monday morning to be sure it's your car they order. Frankly GM doesn't care what the 1100 "order" you may have states. That is called Order Placed at Dealer! They can just pass over you and give it to someone else! NOTE: this is for all GM cars and Trucks NOT just Corvettes!
Thanks all. I spent time this morning on the various build sites, and emailed it in. This will be car #4 I’ve bought from them and the second c8. In fact I will have bought 2 of his 3 c8s……and on his list for an eray.
It’s good to know this is the order process for all chevys as I mention he does not get many allocations. Not sure how he earned another car when sold one in the fall of 20, mine in December of 20 and now his third. Apparently allocations are not strictly linked to prior corvettes sold?
I have a deposit in at a Hendrick dealer and that car was expected 1st quarter of 22. I had my expectations set until then., so anything sooner will be a pleasant surprise.
I just read a potential Corvette buyer his TPW is around 8-23. Supposedly the waiting list is approximately 1,700. This is from the largest Corvette dealership.
