Default Blendmount now Available for C8

Received notification yesterday that Blendmounts are finally available for the C8. Though, I do not believe they have them for 1LT Coupes.

As usual, they are not cheap, $189, but I am considering it for my Escort Redline 360c.

As sharp as they are that’s ridiculously high.

Thanks for the heads up! Been watching for sometime now, date available went from Aug 9 to Aug 17. Busy day it got by me! Just in time. Site stated only 23 left when I placed my order. They won't last long....even at their price.

Escort Redline 360c on site and now awaiting the Blendmount and mirror installed power cord.

Looks like a monstrosity! Why would I want this over the stock mount? (Serious question, curious why people prefer them).

Previous Blendmounts that I have had looked BIG. Once installed they tuck up behind and under the rear view mirror. Being all black attached to the RD makes it not noticeable and a clean installation to me. Have not seen one on the C8 yet but I will be getting one. We can’t attach anything to the glass. And the one time I used suction cups they failed in the Arizona heat. NEVER again.

Lol...yes when not installed with it extended at all joints it does look large. Watch the end of the install video and it fits nicely under the rearview mirror.

I'm considering it only because of my negative experiences in the past with suction cups.

I believe that this mount is only for the cars without the camera equipped rear mirror. Does anybody know for sure? That real estate is too valuable for vision. Mounting mine up as high as possible in the drivers corner of the windshield.

BIG Dave - fully agree with your post, especially when I view your perfectly mounted detector! Looks good.

Me, the reason I have purchased the BlendMount is YEARS ago I did use the supplied suction cup mount on an Escort which never worked out so well for me. One suction cup would hold better than the other, sag to one side or found it difficult to get it to "suction" to my satisfaction. Not to mention drying out in the Texas heat, etc.. Also what came into play was the angle of the window and having to modify by bending/twisting the mount so is sat level on the window. This was a task in itself as I am **** with positioning all I touch to be....plumb, square and/or level!! Lol. Then of course, that occasional bump in the road which would allow the detector to fall onto the dashboard! Not good

So, along with great reviews from other forum members...the monstrosity will arrive soon and will be put to use. As others above have stated, once mounted and positioned properly it does not appear as bulky as the ad shows. It will "blend" well behind the mirror with all my black interior. Expensive? Yes....but, so was my C8! Lol.

I can attest to the fact the Blend Mounts are definitely the best radar detector mount to use in the south..(Alabama). I actually own 4 Escort Max 360s, mounted with Blend Mounts. I have one in my '17 Jeep Wrangler, one in my wife's, 16 Stingray, and one back in the box, from a '16 BMW 535i, we sold. The fourth one is being delivered on Friday for my C8. These mounts are so professionally engineered, they actually look factory when installed. As has been mentioned here, I have tried all types of suction cup mounting, the twin cups that come with the Valentines, and the huge one suction cup that comes with the Max 360s. They are all worthless in the Alabama sun, regardless of any tricks used to get them to stay. I will say, the last mount I purchased for the 16 Stingray was cheaper, $149, but it was a close derivative from most previous versions. This one for the C8, due to the odd mirror, required completely new engineering. The mount to the mirror end is totally different than all the others they have ever produced. All the others mounted to the mirror stem, and the C8 has no mirror stem. Therefore, the additional cost.

I agree Dave! I have the same setup as you with new V1 Gen2 using their suction cup mount in your exact position with mirror tap cord.
Have had no issues even down here in Florida sun. For now I will forgo getting the Blendmount.

Then there is this. I have used to mount my radar detectors for years. Tape grips well even in 90 degree heat.

I prefer the Escort Sticky Mount that came with the Passport Max I bought a month before my September 2013 built C7 was delivered. Have used it on my 2017 Grand Sport and now my C8.

Has several advantages,
  • It was free with the detector!
  • Don't like the detector sitting under the mirror reducing a key forward visibility location.
  • Have it mounted high on the windshield to the right of the mirror so no forward vision restriction.
  • I can also remove the detector and mount when I'm in a questionable area as I did when parking at the 4 Wide Drag Races in Charlotte.
IF I park facing the sun on a very hot day (100F+) have had it let lose so I added a tether in 2014 and have used on my 2017 Grand Sport and now my C8. It has never in 8 years let loose when driving as the AC is on.

To Each Their Own

The Blendmount is a very nice piece and it tucks up very well once installed. I had been using the suction cups mount for my V1 in the C8, but to get a good view out the front and rear, it's positioned way down on the windshield. I've come out twice and found it swinging from the cord due to the brand new suction cups letting loose. I liked the Blendmount so much in the C8 that I just ordered one for my 2021 Silverado 3500 High Country.

I loved the blendmount/V1 setup in my C7. I do however recommend keeping the allen wrench in the glove compartment (or center console) and checking the tightness periodically. I had it come loose once on the highway and it wasn't exactly pleasant.

I'm surprised! I've had a number of blendmounts and have never had one come loose. These things have been rock solid through all kinds of temperatures. I will say, $189 is steep but using the coupon code eases the pain ever so slightly.

What kind of radar detector are you trying to mount in your C8? I ordered one today and just checked a few minutes ago and it says there are 10 available for the Valentine V1 Gen2. Blendmount availability is obviously based on the kind of radar detector you are ordering the mount for.

Here's a discount link for anyone that's interested in saving 12% off the price of the Blendmount:

Yeah, it was a one time thing. High quality piece. I'll be going blendmount again come delivery time.
