Default Would black be a mistake?

Of cars I've owned, my most memorable was my Z3 coupe. It was metallic black with a tan gut, which I modified further to add more tan. It was gorgeous. Photos below.

Playing with the configurator and visualizer, I duplicated the Z3 color scheme - and I was blown away. It's beautiful.

I'm solicing input. OF COURSE I know "it's your car, do what you want." I'm asking for input because this is a self-selecting group of C8 enthusiasts, many of whom think alot and care greatly about the C8 aesthetics.

I've never seen a C8 in black!

Love it as configured below? Mistake? All thoughts valued (other than than "it's your car" or "why are you asking a bunch of strangers" - see above).

Thank you!

I’m not trying to spend ALL of your money, but man… adding Spectra Gray Tridents with Bright Red Calipers make this base (non Z51) set-up look like a million bucks. Just my $.02

May want to reconsider the two tone seats for HTC. Full tan seats will be cooler in the sun and saves some $$$. Go with what you want
I don’t like owning black cars but I’ve seen one black C8 coupe (also non-Z51) but it must’ve had NPP and it looked and sounded great. I probably prefer the grey tridents or regular silver wheels to the black wheels on a black car, never been a fan of “murdered out” looks.

I’m not a “black car” guy, but that is a gorgeous combo with the contrasting interior. Love the interior, but a little too much black exterior. I think the the Spectra Gray Trident Rims would nail it.

It’s actually lack of all color and light… but I digress.

My black C8 was built last week. Hopefully "soon" I will have pictures to post.
And I did go with the spectra gray wheels as commented above.

I think the C8 design looks best in black. All the design cues blend together, and it has a slimming effect on certain things like the prominent rear end. Many say black "hides" a lot of the design features, and I agree, but that's a good thing such that the whole looks better.

Mine is built ready to ship and it's black with red interior and two tone seats with silver stripes. I guess I'm one who feels it's a great choice.

If you go with black, go with red interior and red calipers. Black is not for me.

There are quite a few little nooks and crannies that need attention when you wash the car. You have owned black cars so you're already aware of how quickly they acquire dirt, and how often then need attention. This is just a small reminder of how much time you'll spend making it look good. Unless you have a garage, you'll spend more time looking at it and detailing than you will driving.

It depends upon you're priorities.

I have had my black HTC for almost a year and still love it, I did not order the black wheels because I thought that was too much black. I have the red calipers and red 3LT two tone seats to give it a boost of color.
I saw a red mist C8 HTC in a parking lot last week and for some strange reason my black C8 seemed lower to the ground and more "exotic" looking to my biased eyes..

If it were 1/2 price I would consider black.

I've had four vettes and all, with exception of my current white c8, have been black.
I have a black over natural w/red calipers on order but have been obsessing as to whether or not to change the order to white.
This white car has been so forgiving compared to my previous cars; almost no work involved in keeping it reasonably clean looking.
I need to see a black one in person to determine if it will be worth all the extra work. I thought it was on my c7, but I don't know if I want to make the commitment again.

Almost. I ordered the 3LT so I could get the red stitching. Also red seat belts and the red edge calipers. Bought the engine appearance package and an aftermarket engine cover -red edge with the painted Corvette logo. Paid the $100 for my side mirrors and "low" spoiler to be carbon flash paint.

I’m not trying to spend ALL of your money, but man… adding Spectra Gray Tridents with Bright Red Calipers make this base (non Z51) set-up look like a million bucks. Just my $.02

I would say yes to black with a caveat. Spend the time/money to have it corrected and ceramic coated. They are just too easy to have hazy swirl marks on. Looks great on the car, but you also have to live with it.

I’ve had a few black cars and swore I’d never own another. Here in Texas, during pollen season, they get a yellow hue so quickly after washing. Plus all the other dust and gunk they’re impossible to keep clean.

But then I saw a black C8 in person and it was sooooooooo sexy. Definitely the most exotic and expensive looking of all the colors I’ve seen.

I was dead set on Rapid Blue, but have been seriously considering black. I’m trying to convince myself since I’ll be ceramic coating it that will make upkeep easier (last black car was 5+ years ago and didn’t have ceramic or anything fancy).

Bird67, black has been one of the most popular car colors for years and it seems like about every other car where I live is black. It is very easy to work with in terms of interior color and other accents because just about every color goes with black. The black C8 is NOT a metallic paint though. Black cars have been determined to be among the most difficult to keep clean and show swirl marks, chips and paint defects more than most light colors. Black also absorbs heat while a light color, like white or silver, will reflect it. Black accounted for 12% of 2020 C8 sales, the third most ordered color that year. In 2021, it was #4 in order volume. It is your decision to make and I think you are wise to give color selection some careful consideration before you lock it in. Happy hunting! I'm right there with you doing the same thing for my order.

I like the rapid blue and black best of the C8 colors
To me the rapid blue looks the most exotic with the tension blue int stunning
