Default C8 Purchase

I've been away for many years and went into the Challenger SRT and Hellcat lineup due to my size (6'5") but my journey is about to come full circle. After finally getting to sit in a C8 (never thought I would fit), the convertible is actually just fine for a tall person. The coupe has a roof brace that the back of my head hits too much to not be annoying.

I found a dealership with a convertible and I'm so glad I did. Long story short, I put a deposit to get on the wait months ago and settled in for the long journey to order one. That lasted about two months and I started the same process I did when the Hellcat came out...make a list and start calling. I found one at a small dealership a couple of states away for 10k over MSRP and given the 2022 build I did was about $3200 more than the same 2021 build, I thought $6400 is definitely worth not waiting 12 to 18 months. So I'm crossing my fingers on the final hurdle of getting my rate as low as possible as I'm competing my credit union rate against the dealership right now.

Sorry, I'm so jazzed right now I can't even sleep. I've owned five Corvettes but this will be my first new one...a bucket list vehicle I thought I would never own.

2021 Red Mist 2LT with GT2 seats, Z51, Magnetic Ride, auto front lift, carbon fiber interior.

Fingers crossed.

Best of luck. Understand getting one and paying $6,400 over MSRP and the never sure how long wait was worth it! All options I would order! I find the lift very useful. Have many places in town programed to lift as I approach where I scraped my 2017 Grand Sport carbon fiber Stage 2 Aero Option splitter!

BTW, some folks comment that have no issues in "their driveway" so did not get the lift. BUT I scraped my C6, 2014 C7 aftermarket splitter and the OEM Stage 2 Aero splitter where it was unexpected. Can't always crawl into a driveway or manage a dip slowing to a crawl and going in at an angle!

The lift is a must-have for me....I have fixed or replaced enough splitters and front spoilers that I'm glad someone invented a fix. :-) Thank you for the best of luck. I haven't felt this way about a car in many years. The Hellcats were awesome cars but every time I saw a C8 roll by I was envious. Time is literally standing still right now :-) Going to be a long day.

I am 6-2 and my head hits the bar also but not many times and I know if I was a few inches taller I would have sold the car already and probably bought a Convertible..

I'm 6'3" and would never say I fit comfortably in my convertible with GT2 seats. I make myself fit but am rarely 'comfortable'. The price one pays to look like a rockstar.....

Never owned or wanted a convertible. I like the old t tops :-) and moon roofs. Just wasn't a fan of the canvas tops. Thankfully the hardtop convertibles look amazing but a little bummed that I don't get the engine view...small price to pay.

Love my C8. Ordered July 2019 soon after the launch and the announced 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds! Trumped my only having standard shift DD's for 60+ years! I bit more civilized that my prior 2017 Grand Sport but rides better than all my other 5 Vettes. I often drive in Z Mode Powertrain set to Track. Below are the key benefits. However whenever I feel to "civilized" I just put the loud pedal to the floor and in a few seconds hit triple digits!

SIDEBAR
Try driving a "different more aggressive car" by setting Z MODE with Powertrain Set to Track. Note, unlike driving in Track Mode you can set Ride to Touring (assuming you have MRC.) Here is why I have Z MODE set with Power in Track. At the end is a link to a video by a forum member showing how it's a different car WITH POWERTRAIN SET TO TRACK:
  • The car will upshift at much higher rpm than when in TOURING, SPORT or MY MODE. (Note as in all Modes upshift rpm is throttle dependent.)
  • It will seldom shift past 5th gear (or 6th if going >70 mph. Note 4th and 5th are OD ratios, like 6th,7th and 8th) providing engine torque with modest throttle increases WITHOUT downshifting.
  • It will not go into V4 mode.
  • When braking, it will downshift at higher rpm and rev match makes it perfectly smooth in each gear.
  • You’ll also get max Throttle response, not the slower Tip-In in all other Modes (other than Track.)
  • Note, if desired you can still use the shift paddles. So if it's in 5th and your just cruising, pull the upshift paddle and you can shift to 6th, 7th or 8th. If making an aggrieve turn you can downshift at whatever rpm you'd like as you brake. But you'll probably find when in Z MODE with Powertrain set to TRACK it will downshift at high enough rpm with aggressive braking.
Good video describing what I said in words by a forum member:

I never scraped my front end in my C7 Z06, I probably don't need the lift right?

One big problem with C7 Z06 was when I was driving around town, the ride is so low and when I want to make turns in certain corners, bushes/plants would block my view, it's very dangerous actually since you can't see if there are cars coming or not!!!!. Pretty sure you guys experienced this right? I assume this is still a problem in C8 ? how do you guys deal with this?

Congratulations. Whatever you pay for a new C8 is worth it.

If you don't mind my asking, what's your inseam?

I sat in a coupe and "made it work" but wondering if the HTC is the way to go.

Congrats, from a fellow 6'5"er. I fit in my coupe just fine, but I purchased the transparent top, and my seat is tilted forward so my head doesn't hit the roof bow.

I think it's 34, typically wear a 38 waist with 34 length. I have to say the convertible was really comfortable (450 miles first trip) with the exception of the side wings which are a tad tight. I am broad shoulder and it hugs you for sure.

Congrats! As a fellow tall person, I hear ya. (I’m a “shorter” 6’4”). The coupe is a no go for me too, due to the B Pillar hitting my skull, but I prefer the HTC anyways.

My build is very similar to what you found; 2022 Red Mist, Z51, Edge Red Calipers, Magnetic ride, Black Trident Rims, Black Spoiler / Mirrors, black roof and nacelles, Black 2LT interior, GT2 seats, Red seat belts, and Carbon Fiber interior trim. After waiting a year, I got my TPW on Friday of 10/11… so pumped.
