I'm hopefully taking delivery of my C8.R near the middle of November, and temperature dependent I am planning a dream road trip! I know that you are supposed to regulate RPMs / Speed during the first 500 miles, I do intend to do that... but, this trip sounds like a beautiful way to enjoy such a machine. I'm not worried at all about low RPMs on the Dragon.
1) Take Delivery at NCM
2) Tail of the Dragon start in the North, go south, then back up north
3) Hop on route 66 in Oklahoma
4) take RTE 66 to the edge of Arizona and Nevada
5) Pit Stop for Ron Fellows 2 day course
6) Continue to the beautiful Long Beach, CA

you should be completely broken in well before you reach Ron fellows. If you’re passing through AZ definitely take a cliche picture of standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona with the car 🙂

we don't use our own cars at ron fellows...
Whats Winslow arizona?
Sounds awesome. Make sure to take the Cherohala Skyway on your way to the Dragon - it's an amazing road and much more fun than the Dragon, in my opinion. Definitely more scenic.

ty ry ty.... I'll look that up and take your recommendation. Provided it's the direction I'm going!
FWIW, I suggest doing the Cherahala Parkway (not sure of spelling) at the north end of the dragon. More wide open, less traffic and a bit higher altitudes. I live closely and do them both a couple times a year.

someone 3 posts up recommend that too!!!!! I'm definitely doing it! Ty ty
Mine Shaft restaurant in Madrid, New Mexico - about 45 minutes from Albuquerque. Great food.
You can't do too much of old Route 66 unless you want to spend a couple of weeks getting home.
the dragon is a great place to get a picture, but there are better places to drive twisties. the blue ridge parkway has roads feeding it. take each road and drive to the bottom, then turn around and ride back up. we (bikers) used to all it 'gap attacks". 151, 276 rings a bell ...little switzerland is another spot for a gap attack
Please let me add 2 more comments about your awesome trip. Soft luggage and Big Texan Steakhouse in Amarillo. My wife and I traveled 12000 mi. in our C8 this summer and luggage space was at a premium for extended trips. We did Route 66 in 2017 and The Big Texan Steakhouse was a highlight if you have carnivorous tendencies.
